Please come and join us! A Dragon Boat is 40' long, weighs 600 lb and holds 20 paddlers (2 per row in 10 rows), 1 drummer in front, and a steerer in the rear. Fur babies always know what’s going on … look out 😂

I pulled my car into my parking space and our young dog came prancing up to greet me, looking very proud of herself. I had left her in her crate with the door latched, because she had eaten the cushion on the couch a few months earlier. She was not trusted alone in the house. So why was she outdoors?
I looked at the front door which was wide open. Oh sh*t. I called the police and told them I thought my house had been burgled and I was afraid to go in. A squad car arrived very quickly and 2 policemen inspected my house and said it looked like a break-in, but most of the valuables were stacked by the door.
My Collie-German Shepard puppy had broken out of her crate and had chased the burglar out of the house. With a prompt report, the police put out a bulletin and caught him later that day.
We never put her back in the crate again. She was well behaved and hadn’t even run away when outside the house on her own.
We put her to sleep this week at the old age of 16. She had a wonderful adventurous life. She peed in 48 states and 5 Canadian provinces. She swam in the Atlantic, Pacific, the Gulf of Mexico, all 5 Great Lakes and many lakes, ponds, streams, and mud puddles in between.
Farewell, sweet girl.

Hello Dragon Boaters,

We are extremely pleased to announce the Sydenham Challenge is once again gracing the waters of the Sydenham, August 20, 2022.

We are also pleased to announce that the Sydenham Challenge has joined together with WAMBO. It made good sense and allows for more flexibility and resources.

Needlessly to say with only 8 weeks to go this is leaving a tight time line for everyone however we are confident we all can make it happen.

Cost per team – with the rising costs we are experiencing and in celebration of the festivals 20th year including our generous sponsors we are pleased to announce that we are maintaining the registration per team fee of $600.00.

Note: the festivals website www.sydenhanchalenge.ca will be updated and running by the end of this month. This year’s registration and information package is available now from me. Again due to the tight timeline we are asking if you have plans or interested in registering a team please send me an e-mail just to give us an idea and we can go from there.

Hope to see everyone out celebrating an open summer on the Sydenham.

Paddles up!

Brian
