We are a Charitable organization, 501 (c) (3) effective date of exemption is 10/29/14! We are the ONLY BCS (Breast Cancer Survivor) & Co-Ed Supporter/Friend Dragon Boat Team in Michigan. Our goal is to have FUN, help raise awareness, raise funds to support other Breast Cancer Charities, and support others and one another! Don McKenzie to help with range of motion, upper body strength, endurance! I
t lifts the spirit and provides a great sense of camaraderie and support. For some, it helps them regain control of their lives and for others it helps reduce the recurrence rate while it provides joy! Our team is open to all ages and all abilities - men & women! Please come and join us! A Dragon Boat is 40' long, weighs 600 lb and holds 20 paddlers (2 per row in 10 rows), 1 drummer in front, and a steerer in the rear. Each team will have ~29 people (4 extra paddlers, 1 drummer, 2 steerers). We purchased our Dragon Boat & named her MUSTANG PATTY. We are a team within Ford Canoe & Kayak Club (FCKC) a member of FERA (Ford Employee Recreation Association). Any questions or to join, contact Csilla Gutay via a FB message on Motor City Dragons (MCD) or email [email protected]. During our first year in 2013 we attended 3 Dragon Boat Festivals: Lake Orion (Bronze), Toronto Canada (Silver), Cleveland (Gold). All 3 festivals raise funds for cancer treatment. During our second year in 2014 we attended 6 Dragon Boat Festivals: Windsor, Cleveland, Lake Orion, Toronto (Gold), Cleveland, Sarasota! The most moving is Cleveland's "Gathering Place" the beneficiary of the Cleveland Festival. They help all types of cancer patients, and were our teammates, sharing 2 dragon boats! Our Breast Cancer Survivor (BCS) team seated last came from behind & took 1st place and all this is captured on video & uploaded to this site as a video!
