Congratulations to our student athletes!
It was a big weekend for Dearborn’s cross country community as runners from Fordson, Dearborn High, and Edsel Ford competed in the 2025 MHSAA Regional meet at Lake Erie Metropark.
From the girls’ side, Fordson’s Maya Elachkar made school history — becoming the first female runner from Fordson to qualify for the state meet in 27 years. Elachkar’s comeback story made her achievement even more impressive, as she missed two weeks earlier in the season due to injury before earning the final qualifying spot with a time of 20:39.20, placing 26th overall.
On the boys’ side, Mourad Algahmi continued his dominance, taking 3rd overall with a blazing time of 15:41.40, securing a trip to the state finals for the second straight year. Rami Bazzi from Dearborn High made his first state qualification after finishing 14th overall at 16:25.90, showing major improvement from last season.
Edsel Ford’s Abdu Eljahmi also made headlines, becoming the school’s first state qualifier since 2018 with a 19th-place finish and a time of 16:35.20.
The MHSAA State Finals will take place November 1st at the Michigan International Speedway, where these four Dearborn athletes will represent their schools on the biggest stage in Michigan high school cross country.
