We were honored to join Trustee Bazzi, Senator McMarrow, fellow advocate and the Governor for the ceremonial signing of a bill that will save lives, and add one more piece of comfort for families of ever God forbid a loved one went missing.
The ceremonial signing marked the enactment of Senate Bill 456 (establishing the Silver Alert system). This bill passed at the same time as the Rowan Act (House Bills 4517 and 4518), which together expand the state’s Amber Alert system to issue immediate notifications for missing seniors, vulnerable adults, and children with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
The legislative push followed local advocacy rooted in our area, after one of our beloved community members went missing earlier this year. We want to thank all of our families, community leaders and individuals who stepped up, made their voices heard, and took action alongside us to ensure more safety measures are in place to protect our most vulnerable populations.
