Shakespeare Against Cancer

Shakespeare Against Cancer Health. Culture. Education. SAC facilitates local actors to visit hospitals, support groups, medical facilities, etc.

Shakespeare Against Cancer is a volunteer/charitable program dedicated to enhancing the culture, education and health of the City of Detroit (and surrounding areas). The arts rehabilitation program was created in honor of Sherry Peterson who was a writer and lover of the arts by giving back to cancer and ALL patients receiving treatment in medical facilities throughout Metro Detroit. and perform a

bbreviated versions of Shakespeare’s work. After the brief performances, actors pass out gifts to patients at no cost to them. The initiative gives actors a means to use their skills to give back to the community, exposes residents to classic theater and Shakespeare, and gives patients an opportunity to escape from their treatments with the help of their imaginations. The gifts give patients an activity that they can use during their treatment or stay in the hospital. Together we can make a difference through the arts.
