As Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast, our disaster relief partners are already preparing to respond. Ford Philanthropy is proud to support their efforts, helping get vehicles and resources into position.

Here’s what that looks like on the ground:
• World Central Kitchen used its Ford-donated F-350 to tow its amphibious all-terrain vehicle to Pensacola, so the team is in place before the storm arrives.
• Team Rubicon pre-staged its Emergency Operations Center in the Florida Panhandle.
• ToolBank USA has staged trailers stocked with tools and disaster supplies in Panama City, Foley and Pensacola.
• Hispanic Federation pre-staged two Ford-donated Transit vans for response in Immokalee, Fellsmere/Port St. Lucie, Homestead and Pierson.

To our partners and neighbors across the Gulf Coast, thank you for moving fast to look out for one another. When the storm passes, the work won't be over. We'll continue working alongside our partners to support recovery efforts.

Our partner Feeding The Mind is on the ground delivering meals and essential supplies to our neighbors across Thailand, as severe flooding reaches neighborhoods in Bangkok and the northern provinces.

This is in action, putting our superpowers to work so partners like SOS Thailand can reach more neighbors, faster. Here’s what that looks like:

🔹 A pre-funded disaster relief grant from Ford Philanthropy is helping SOS Thailand mobilize quickly.
🔹 Ford Thailand is providing high-clearance vehicles, like the Ford Ranger and Ranger Super Duty, to reach communities that are hard to access.
🔹 Members of our Ford Volunteer Corps are collecting, packing and delivering aid alongside the SOS team.

Thank you for all you’re doing, SOS! Keep up the great work; we’re proud to be in your corner. 💙

Mary Culler, Chelle Travis and Nate Bargatze got a lesson in carpentry from students at Oakland Schools Technical Center. The assignment? Hammer a nail into a post. We’ll let the students decide how we did!

At , these students showed us what hands-on learning looks like when you give the next generation the chance to build, create and put their skills to work.

We’re grateful to our partners at SkillsUSA and SkillsUSA Michigan for creating opportunities for students to explore the trades, build real-world skills and see where those skills can take them.

Thank you for bringing these students to Accelerate and giving us a chance to learn from them, too!

"This school gives me confidence, making me think big."

Interest in the skilled trades is growing, but many young people don't know where to start. Every trade has its own roadmap. The first step for an electrician isn't the same as the first step for a plumber or an auto technician.

That's why earlier this year, Ford Philanthropy partnered with Bloomberg Philanthropies and Detroit Public Schools Community District to modernize and expand the auto technician program at Breithaupt Career and Technical Center and restart the program at Western High School. Students now have access to modern equipment, advanced training and hands-on experience, and an entry point into a career in the auto industry.

Getting people interested in skilled trades careers is only part of the challenge. Helping them finish the path matters, too.

The new State of America's Skilled Trades report found that while people are signing up for training programs, only 1 in 2 finishes.

For many students, the barrier isn't ability or ambition. It can be something as simple as getting to class, an apprenticeship or a training session, or keeping the car they already have running.

That's why wrap-around support matters. Transportation is a big piece, and an often-unseen barrier to finishing training. Ahead of ACCELERATE, Ford Philanthropy announced new partnerships in Detroit, Kansas City and Chicago focused on emergency car repairs for students enrolled in skilled trades training programs.

These partnerships build on progress this year, including a new partnership with Lyft to provide ride credits to SkillsUSA students and a new emergency transportation fund with Last Mile Education Fund.

The report gives us a clearer picture of the skilled trades gap. Closing it means helping more people find these careers and giving them the support they need to make it all the way through. More than 4,300 pounds of food made its way to 70 families in San Juan, Puerto Rico during Global Caring Month. 💙

Ford volunteers joined Centros Sor Isolina Ferré to support families in the Caimito community, distributing nonperishable food at the center and delivering it directly to the homes of families with mobility challenges.

The team also helped transform the center’s dining room into a community dining hall and gathering space, giving local families a place to come together and receive support for years to come.

Thank you to Ford Motor Company employee Vivian Dávila for leading the project, and a big shoutout to the 12 Ford volunteers who worked alongside the Sor Isolina Ferré Centers team.

There was a lot to get done at Botho-Botjha Training Centre — and 22 Ford Motor Company volunteers were ready to get to work. 💙

Our team from Silverton Assembly Plant in South Africa spent the day painting classrooms and the sick bay, planting vegetables, improving the grounds, and helping create a dedicated medical space. The team also donated medical beds, wheelchairs, and other equipment to support the people with disabilities served by the center.

By the end of the day, they had contributed 154 volunteer hours — and left behind spaces that were safer, more functional and ready to serve the community.

Shoutout to project lead Tsikelelo Mbhejisana, our Ford Volunteer Corps, and everyone at Botho-Botjha Training Centre who worked alongside them.

What happens when SkillsUSA students bring their skills to the steps of Michigan Central? They build. 🛠️

Three students from Oakland Schools Technical Center brought their carpentry skills to for a hands-on roof framing demonstration — laying out rafters, showing how the different layers of a roof come together and putting their skills to work right in the heart of the event.

These students are getting real-world, hands-on experience while they’re still in high school. At , they got to put those skills on display and show what the next generation of skilled trades talent can do.

We’re proud to partner with SkillsUSA and SkillsUSA Michigan to create more opportunities for students to explore the trades, build confidence and start building their futures.
