“I do think we’ve been left out, because mostly we’re not seen,” Jessica Skoczylas, a gas service utility worker and union member in Detroit, told me. “Nobody thinks about utilities and what we’re doing. We’re just not out there unless something goes wrong.”

Utility workers are just as essential as the many other workers who are finally receiving their due. But when it comes to safety, they’ve been left behind.

Recognizing the increased pressure we’re under to stay safe at work, to manage care for our families, and stay healthy, here are a few tips to keep in mind to help manage stress during the pandemic.
