Planning Meeting #1: Latina/o Workers Leadership Institute 2026
Saturday, May 30, 10am - 12pm

Renick University Center @ UM Dearborn

Greetings, friends in labor!

It's time to start planning for September's Latina/o Workers Leadership Institute, which will be held at UM Dearborn September 17-19.

Our first LWLI26 Planning Meeting will be held NEXT SATURDAY, May 30, 10am-12pm, on the UM-Dearborn campus. Please note: the meeting will not be held in our typical meeting space. Map and directions below.

In these planning meetings, we collectively decide upon course offerings, the conference theme, awards recipients, T-shirt design, and other important factors that go into a conference. Decisions are made collectively by the people who show up, so come be part of this democratic process!

One topic of discussion and decision-making will be the renaming of our Cesar Chavez Award.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of background, union status, or previous conference attendance.

This meeting will be held in the Renick University Center, Room 1225. All buildings on Dearborn's main campus have the same street address (4901 Evergreen Rd), so we recommend typing "Renick University Center" into your navigation. You can park in Lot E5/6 for free.



The campus is located along Evergreen Rd, across from the Fairlane Mall. The Renick University Center is marked.



This will be an in-person meeting.

Young Workers Conference 2026: Planning Meeting #2
Hello everyone,

I hope that everyone is doing well! As a reminder, we'll have our SECOND planning meeting for Young Workers Conference 2026 (June 25-27) THIS SATURDAY (March 28). In these planning meetings, we collectively decide upon course offerings, the conference theme, awards recipients, T-shirt design, and other important factors that go into a conference. Decisions are made collectively by the people who show up, so come be part of this democratic process!

FIRST planning meeting for Michigan School for Women Workers 2026: Saturday, Dec 13, 10am
Hello everyone,

I hope this email finds you well. As we start to wrap up 2025, we have our FIRST planning meeting for the Michigan School for Women Workers, a conference that has been going on for over fifty years! The conference will be held April 16-19, 2025.

The first planning meeting will be held on this Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 10:00 am, in UM-Dearborn's Fairlane Center South, Dining Room D. Fairlane Center South is located at 19000 Hubbard Dr., Dearborn, Michigan.

This is an in-person meeting. We are more productive in person and everything progresses more efficiently when we meet in person. For those that have to work or live outside of the Metro Detroit area I am including a zoom link. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

We are also actively planning 2026's Black Men in Unions (Feb 19-22) and looking for T-shirts of participating locals. PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR LOCAL T-SHIRTS FOR THE BMIU26 QUILT! You may bring these to the MSWW planning meeting or mail them to the CLCS office (address below). PLEASE SUBMIT NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 19!!
