April is Autism Awareness Month.

Michigan residents who are deaf, hearing-impaired, autistic, or have another medical diagnosis that might make it difficult to communicate can voluntarily request a special communication impediment designation be placed on their Secretary of State record.

The purpose of this designation is to ensure better, safer interactions with law enforcement as it notifies them of specific communication needs.
