Instead please send us an introductory e-mail at Alpha(at)peak.org. Alpha Farm is an intentional community of people who have chosen to live and work together to share a more harmonious way of living. At our home in rural western Oregon, we live the largely self-reliant style of a close-knit expanded family; we average 15 to 20 people, including singles, couples and families, and have ranged in ag

e from infants to elderly. Alpha Farm is located about 25 miles from the Pacific Ocean and about 55 miles by road northwest of Eugene, the nearest city. Dense, predominantly conifer forests cover these steep hills of the Coast Range of Oregon, fed by abundant rainfall in the winter and dry, moderate summers. The 280-acre farm is nestled in a green finger valley among these hills. Our living spaces include a large old farmhouse, the five-bedroom "new house" built in 1980, and an assortment of cabins, cottages, yurts and trailers. Dining and general living space has been tight for this large family, but it has always been the community guideline that each individual have a private room. A good number of the people who have lived as "residents" for a year-long introductory period have stayed to become members. Our bylaws define the membership commitment as "for the foreseeable future" and for the average member, this has been five to ten years or more. Many people, too, have come for shorter periods, staying for a summer or perhaps a year, a welcome addition to the diversity of the whole. To set up a visit please e-mail us at Alpha(at)peak.org.

We took the opportunity to attend and participate in the Communities Conference & Convergence of Intentional Communities held at Twin Oaks this year. While we didn’t get any pictures of the conference, it was incredibly rewarding and immersive. Great workshops, lots of networking and beautiful connections made. We had the chance to visit and connect with neighboring communities such as Acron, Living Energy Farms, and Cambia. Thank you to all of these communities in Virginia for being so kind and welcoming!

This has been an incredible year for Alpha Farm as we’ve been exploring other communities, building connections across communities, and taking the time to learn from and share with our new friends. 💛

Crossover Episode! Alpha Farm visits East Wind.

4 of ours took a road trip to connect with East Wind in March. Learned a lot and made connections to last a life time! Thanks so much to all the folks who made the visit so wonderfully memorable.

We’re also linked with the FEC now & officially a community in dialogue 😄 Woo!

I just received this update from the FEC:
“Over the past year, the Federation of Egalitarian Communities (FEC) has been working to get back on its feet after a period of relative inactivity and disorganization.

At present, the FEC’s full member communities are Twin Oaks Community (Virginia) and East Wind Community (Missouri). A number of other communities have recently dissolved or left the FEC. Alpha Farm (Oregon) has recently joined as a Community in Dialogue—a preliminary status for communities exploring full membership.

Alongside ongoing operations and smaller projects, the FEC has recently been focused on three main priorities:
1. Getting our corporate registration and tax filing in order
2. Reviewing and updating our policies
3. Regaining editing access to thefec.org website and updating it

The current delegates continue to work closely together with a renewed commitment to the FEC’s goal: to make egalitarian communities available to all who seek them.

We appreciate the patience and support of our wider network during this rebuilding process.

—The Delegates of the Federation of Egalitarian Communities”

Join us this Saturday, September 30th, at Norse Hall in Portland for the Compassionate Living Festival from 12-6pm! 🌱✨

We’re excited to unveil our Alpha Burgers—a fresh, vegan, and gluten-free take inspired by our Alpha Grainburgers, which we started making way back in 1972! These new burgers have already become a favorite at our shared dinners, and now we’re thrilled to share them with the broader community.

Can’t make it but still want to try a bag? No problem! Just reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to set you up. 🍔💚

We look forward to seeing you there!
