A reminder that the GOODBYE PARTY & OPEN HOUSE for Patty and Saige Ruback is this Saturday, May 30th from 2pm to 4pm at UUCD.

In response to the inclement weather, the UUCD Board of Trustees has authorized the OVERNIGHT WARMING CENTER TO STAY OPEN ***one day*** beyond the end of our official season. We will be open tonight Monday 3/16 at 5pm and close again at 8:45am on Tuesday 3/17. Dinner will be served as usual at 6pm, and those who stay overnight will receive breakfast and a bagged lunch.

After tonight, Hope Haven will be opening an emergency warming center, so we recommend that anyone in need consider using their services for 3/17 and beyond.

With less than a week to go, the Overnight Warming Center would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the community of generous humans who donated financially, purchased items from the Amazon Wishlist, cooked and purchased meals, and volunteered their time on shifts during the last two and a half months (January 3 - March 15). Thank you immensely for your show of kindness and compassion in our community.

The OWC is still operation for five more days through March 15. After this date, more information will become available as to how and where our guests and neighbors can find continued support.

New discussion and preparations will also begin mid year for the Overnight Warming Center 2027 season.

If anyone wanted to donate, but didn't have a chance earlier in the season, it isn't too late. Please consider donating to the OWC GoFundMe or purchasing an item from the Amazon Wishlist.

The OWC is open through March 15, and we still have open shifts. Volunteering is a great way to meet others and help your community. Check us out!

With less than three weeks remaining until we close, we can still use your support!

The Overnight Warming Center (OWC) at UUCD is a DeKalb-area community effort to help unhoused and others in need survive the cold winter months.

We are currently in desperate need of volunteers to cover 4-hour shifts, especially those in the evening into early morning (9pm - 1 am and 1am - 5am).

Volunteering even only once during the cold season can save lives! It also helps some of the more active volunteers get a much needed night off. We will train you!!

If you cannot come and stay to work a shift, but would like to help, we are also in need of cooked meals. All you need to do is procure it and drop it off. If you can even just **fund** a meal, we can order something or find a way to buy something premade and serve it.

Have you wanted to volunteer at the UUCD Overnight Warming Center this winter season, but you still haven't signed up?

WE STILL NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

We have approximately 25 days remaining in our season, and there is still need for volunteer sign up and meal donations.

Come check out the OWC. We are housed in the UUCD and located at 158 N. 4th Street in DeKalb. EVERYONE is welcome, especially those who are cold, hungry, or tired!

We are open 7 days a week from 5 pm - 8:30 am through March 15.

If you want to help others in your community and can spare a few hours of your time, please join us!

The UU DeKalb Overnight Warming Center 2026 is searching for volunteers and people to provide meals.

** VOLUNTEERING for even one 4-hour shift makes a huge difference. You will be surrounded by likeminded people and be asked to help with simple tasks. We will train you!!
** MEALS: All you need to do is procure it and drop it off. If you want to order out and arrange to have it delivered, that works too!!
