The Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies at NIU The Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies is committed to the growth and development of civil society

NIU's Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies focuses on academics, research, and enhanced practice. The Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies connects academia, nonprofits and non-governmental organizations, and community through research, learning, and practical civic engagement. We offer an interdisciplinary undergraduate BA or BS degree and a minor in Nonprofit and NGO Studies (NNGO), as well as a Certificate of Undergraduate Study in Nonprofit and NGO Studies and a Certificate of Undergraduate Study in Grant Writing. The Center also has an emerging research program that focuses on nonprofit and non-governmental organization priorities and the practical application of findings. On the practice side, the Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies offers workshops and conferences for nonprofit and non-governmental organization staff locally, nationally, and internationally.

🎉Cheers to our Rachel — you pursued glorious, hands-on experiences in conjunction with academics here at NIU! We’re glad to be a part of training the next generation of nonprofit leaders like Rachel.

“NIU helped me find opportunities that I didn’t even know existed, which has led me to my career today,” said Rachel Schreiber, '23, development operations coordinator for United Way of Dane County in Madison, Wisconsin.

🌧The rain held off and we had a great time connecting NNGO students, interns, and staff with nonprofit partners this week at the Nonprofit Networking event! This is such a good opportunity for students to practice their social networking skills and to meet nonprofit professionals in a low-stress environment. Thanks to our partners at DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership for co-hosting the event with us!
