Сьогодні, у День Незалежності України, ми зібралися в ротонді Milwaukee City Hall, щоб відзначити 35 років відновленої Незалежності України та урочисто підняти наш синьо-жовтий прапор. 🇺🇦
24 серпня - це не просто дата. Це нагадування про те, хто ми є, звідки ми родом і яку високу ціну покоління українців платили й продовжують платити за право жити у вільній і незалежній державі.
Особливо важливо було бачити сьогодні наших дітей. Вони ростуть далеко від України, але мають знати своє коріння, свою історію та розуміти, чому цей прапор такий дорогий для кожного з нас.
Для нас було великою честю отримати від міста Мілуокі прокламацію до Дня Незалежності України: важливий знак підтримки України та нашої громади. На знак щирої вдячності за постійну підтримку ми подарували адміністрації міста традиційний український коровай.
Дякуємо представникам духовенства, лідерам інших громад, нашим партнерам, друзям України та кожному, хто сьогодні прийшов і розділив цей важливий день разом з нами. Ваша присутність - це ще одне нагадування, що Україна не сама.
Підняття українського прапора в серці Мілуокі надсилає сильний сигнал нашим рідним в Україні: ви не самі. Ви не забуті. Свобода України має значення.
Бо Україна була, Україна є і Україна завжди буде вільною.

Today, on Ukrainian Independence Day, we gathered in the Rotunda of Milwaukee City Hall to mark 35 years of Ukraine’s restored independence and proudly raise our blue and yellow flag. 🇺🇦
August 24 is not simply a date on the calendar. It is a reminder of who we are, where we come from, and how much generations of Ukrainians have sacrificed — and continue to sacrifice — for the right to live in a free and independent country.
It was especially meaningful to see our children there today. They may be growing up far from Ukraine, but they should know their roots, their history, and understand why this flag means so much to all of us.
We were honored to receive a proclamation from the City of Milwaukee in recognition of Ukrainian Independence Day — a meaningful expression of support for Ukraine and our Ukrainian community. As a traditional Ukrainian gesture of gratitude for this continued support, we presented the City administration with a korovai.
We are grateful to the members of the clergy, leaders of other communities, our partners, friends of Ukraine, and everyone who joined us today. Your presence is another reminder that Ukraine does not stand alone.
Raising the Ukrainian flag in the heart of Milwaukee sends a powerful message to our families and friends in Ukraine: you are not alone. You are not forgotten. Ukraine’s freedom matters.
Because Ukraine was, Ukraine is, and Ukraine will always be free.
