Had a successful Goodeagle salsa making class tonight! Pretty challenging since most of these recipes don’t have measurements and people got all kinds of acceptable levels of fire/spice…but instructor Ron handled it well! We also had a little left over so we are going to try an experiment of freeze drying it….turn it into powder….make some white corn chips…add the salsa powder into the fresh chips and shake em up. Envision white corn Dorritos…but with Goodeagle salsa instead……

”Good-ritos”?!!!! Once again thank you to all the participants and to Wisconsin Partnership Program for helping us provide classes like this for the community!

🧺 Black Ash Basket Repair Series 🧺

A basket isn't finished when it's woven.

Over the past few years, our Field to Basket program has helped community members harvest black ash, prepare materials, and weave functional baskets for food preparation and daily life. As these baskets have been put to work, many people have asked the same question: "How do I repair it when it breaks?"

This summer, we're creating space to learn exactly that.

Join us for our Black Ash Basket Repair Series and learn practical techniques for repairing worn rims, broken splints, and other common basket damage. Whether it's a treasured family basket passed down through generations, a basket you made in one of our classes, or a reclaimed basket you discovered at a thrift store or antique mall, bring it along and give it new life.

Drop in anytime during class hours.

✨ The first 7 participants at each class will receive a FREE basket repair kit.

Special thanks to the Wisconsin Arts Board and the Woodland Indian Arts Program for supporting this project.

Community Drop-In Hours are back!

Formerly known as Tours & Trading, we've given these gatherings a new name, but the idea remains the same. These are dedicated times when community members can stop by without scheduling an appointment.

Summer is our busiest season. Most days are spent watering, weeding, welcoming groups for private events, running our hot meal and basketry program, maintaining trails, cleaning up our habitat restoration area, and more. Because of that, we often don't have the capacity for unscheduled one-on-one visits. Community Drop-In Hours create dedicated time for you to connect with us, ask questions, learn about our programs, share ideas, explore learning opportunities, or simply stop by and visit.

It's also a great time to browse the Trading Post, bring items to trade, pick up seeds, and see what community members have shared.
