This isn’t rocket science. Almost as easy as the Board of Supervisors sponsoring a fireworks show at Kemper Lake…
"A community that invests in its youth is a community investing in its future."
Tonight, we had the privilege of celebrating the Bombers and the Goats—our league champions! What a season it has been. These kids have shown grit, determination, sportsmanship, and heart. We threw them a party tonight, not just to honor their wins, but to recognize the hard work and dedication they poured into every practice and every game. They’ve made us proud—and they deserve to see that same level of commitment in return from the leaders of this county.
But here’s the hard truth: our young athletes continue to show up, but many of our elected officials have not followed through. Several county supervisors ran on promises to bring a sports complex to life in Kemper County. Not long ago, there were announcements, renderings, even talk of breaking ground. So what happened? Why have those plans stalled while our kids continue to play on a field that falls short of their needs?
These kids won’t stay kids forever. They’ll soon be young adults deciding where to build their lives. Why would they choose to stay in a place that failed to invest in them when it mattered most?
Our youth sports programs are more than games—they are building blocks for leadership, teamwork, and pride in community. If we want our future to be strong, we have to start investing in it now.
We urge you to contact your county supervisors. Ask the hard questions. Demand follow-through. And remember these broken promises when the next election rolls around.
Our kids are worth it. Kemper County’s future is worth it.
