Youth baseball and softball in Kemper County is another example of a local recreational sport that needs our county government’s support. The kids just want to play, and the volunteers just want to help them grow into tomorrow’s leaders.
ADDITIONAL UPDATE: We are now being told there is no meeting this Friday. You can make plans to attend the BOS meeting on Monday, June 15th.
UPDATE: We are being told the Board of Supervisors are gathering for an unofficial meeting at 9:00 this Friday morning and that they will be discussing this matter. Please plan to attend if you are able, or reach out to your supervisor beforehand to make your stance known! While this is encouraging to hear, we cannot stop until BASES ARE IN THE GROUND! 💙💚
Our kids deserve better. We want to play!
At the very least, our children deserve a field tarp to help protect the field we have. But let's be clear—that is the bare minimum. Our county needs at least two new ball fields with proper equipment, regular maintenance, and the resources necessary to support the children who participate in youth sports each year.
The Kemper County Baseball & Softball Association and its volunteers work tirelessly to provide opportunities for our children, but we continue to be denied support for basic improvements that would help protect our fields and reduce unnecessary cancellations.
We are asking parents, grandparents, and supporters of youth sports to contact your county supervisors and ask:
What is the plan for our county ball fields?
Our children deserve facilities that are cared for and invested in. They deserve leaders who recognize the value of youth sports and are willing to support the volunteers who work so hard to make them possible.
We can do better. We must do better.
The future of youth sports in Kemper County depends on more than volunteers. It requires community support and leadership willing to invest in our kids.
