Kemper Baseball & Softball is in need of coaches for tee ball, coach pitch, and little league. We are ready to get these kids on the field and start practices ASAP—but we can’t do that without volunteers stepping up to coach.

These kids are excited. They’re signed up. They’re ready. Now we just need some adults willing to show up for them.

You don’t have to be a professional—just willing to help, encourage, and be present.

If you can help coach (or even assist), please comment below, message us, or reach out to Ben McDade, Dave Waters, or Kasey Barnes ASAP so we can get this season started.

Let’s make sure our kids get to play 💚⚾🥎

It’s almost the BEST time of the year! ⚾🥎

Baseball and softball season is right around the corner, and we could not be more excited to get our DeKalb teams back on the field.

Registration forms will be sent home through the schools soon — but if you’re ready now, there will be a printable registration form in the comments that can be turned in to your child’s school or the DeKalb Town Hall.

We are also currently looking for coaches for all age groups for our DeKalb teams. This is a volunteer-led league, and it only happens because members of our community step up and give their time for the kids in our county. If you’ve ever thought about coaching, now is the time. Our players need leaders, mentors, and role models in their corner.

If you would like to coach or need more information, please contact:
• Ben McDade
• Dave Waters
• Charles Westerfield

It truly takes all of us working together to make this season possible. Thank you for continuing to support youth sports in our community — let’s make this the best season yet! 💙💚

🚨 UPDATE 🚨

Now it’s crunch time — we have until Thursday to get him into the TOP 5 and we know Kemper County can make it happen!

Dre represents everything we’re proud of — an incredible athlete, an amazing student, a respectful young man, and a teammate who always lifts others up. He’s a true DeKalb GOAT, and this is our chance to show up for him the way he always shows up for his team. 💙

🗳️ Vote. Share. Repeat. Let’s put Dre — and all the talent in our county — on the map!

Let’s rally around one of Kemper County’s finest!

To’Madre Rencher — or as many of us know him, Dre or Cowboy — is up for Athlete of the Year, and he needs our votes!

This would be a huge accomplishment not only for Dre, but for our entire community. A win like this shines a light on the incredible talent right here in Kemper County and reminds the world that greatness lives in our small towns.

Dre isn’t just an outstanding athlete — he’s a model student, a respectful and driven young man, and a true team player. Whether he’s encouraging his teammates, showing leadership on and off the field, or listening to his coaches with humility and respect, Dre represents everything we hope to see in our youth.

He’s a proud DeKalb GOAT, and now it’s our turn to show him what it means to have a community behind you.

💙Go vote. 💙Share with your friends. 💙 Let’s lift up one of our own and show what Kemper County is made of!

"A community that invests in its youth is a community investing in its future."

Tonight, we had the privilege of celebrating the Bombers and the Goats—our league champions! What a season it has been. These kids have shown grit, determination, sportsmanship, and heart. We threw them a party tonight, not just to honor their wins, but to recognize the hard work and dedication they poured into every practice and every game. They’ve made us proud—and they deserve to see that same level of commitment in return from the leaders of this county.

But here’s the hard truth: our young athletes continue to show up, but many of our elected officials have not followed through. Several county supervisors ran on promises to bring a sports complex to life in Kemper County. Not long ago, there were announcements, renderings, even talk of breaking ground. So what happened? Why have those plans stalled while our kids continue to play on a field that falls short of their needs?

These kids won’t stay kids forever. They’ll soon be young adults deciding where to build their lives. Why would they choose to stay in a place that failed to invest in them when it mattered most?

Our youth sports programs are more than games—they are building blocks for leadership, teamwork, and pride in community. If we want our future to be strong, we have to start investing in it now.

We urge you to contact your county supervisors. Ask the hard questions. Demand follow-through. And remember these broken promises when the next election rolls around.

Our kids are worth it. Kemper County’s future is worth it.

We want to give a heartfelt shoutout to Rocky and Kelly for umpiring every single game in our summer league season—baseball and softball alike. ⚾🥎

Game after game, they've shown up with consistency, patience, and a love for the game that’s unmatched. They’ve braved the heat, the long nights, and the close calls, all because they care about our kids and this community.

Rocky and Kelly, your presence on the field has meant so much more than just keeping the game going. You've modeled fairness, commitment, and sportsmanship for every child who stepped on the field. You may not hear it enough—but what you're doing matters, and we are beyond thankful. 💙

Rain or shine, our community continues to show up.
Last night, parents, coaches, and siblings came together to battle the soaked fields just so our kids could play. From raking out puddles to literally scooping water with styrofoam cups, it was all hands on deck — and it’s that kind of dedication that keeps our league going.

We’ve had several people reach out asking how they can help with immediate needs — and we’re so thankful. If you're looking for ways to support, please contact Ben McDade, Dave Waters, or Kasey Barnes to find out how you can make a difference.

Our long-term goal remains the same: we need new fields for our kids. One field for five county league teams just within DeKalb is not sustainable. Games are pushed late into the night, practices are squeezed in when and where we can, and rain only makes the situation worse.

We’ve asked for help. The county has denied support — not just for new fields, but even financial support that would help us purchase supplies for field maintenance like a tarp, provide equipment for kids in need, and lower registration fees so we can remain a functioning league that gives all children — regardless of income — the chance to play.

So for now we’ll continue to do what we’ve always done: if the county won’t provide it, we’ll find a way. Because our kids deserve more. They deserve safe, playable, properly supported spaces to grow and compete.

To our volunteers and supporters — thank you. Your efforts make this possible. And to those in leadership, we ask you to come see firsthand what these kids and families are working with. We’re not asking for luxury — we’re asking for fairness. For safety. For opportunity.

🌧️ Another Game Rained Out… 💔

It’s been an incredibly frustrating month for our baseball and softball teams. Game after game canceled due to rain — not for lack of effort, but because we simply don’t have the resources we need. Our coaches and parent volunteers have done everything they can to make it work, but we’re stretched thin.

Right now, six teams are trying to share one field. Games are running until nearly 11 PM, just to give every team a chance to play. And while new fields remain our long-term goal, we need immediate support from our county to keep things moving.

Think about this: how many games could we have saved these last few weeks with just one field tarp? One simple investment could’ve kept kids on the field instead of sitting at home watching the rain.

We’re not giving up — and we’re not backing down. Our kids deserve fields that not only support the number of teams we have now, but also allow room for growth. They deserve the same opportunities as kids in neighboring communities.

⚠️ We urge you to contact your county supervisors and ask them to prioritize investment in our youth sports league.

Because this isn’t just about fields — it’s about giving our kids a safe, structured, and positive environment to grow, learn teamwork, and build confidence.

Invest in our kids. Invest in our future. It is time! ⚾🥎💙💚

We kicked off the season last night in Macon and our crew showed up ready to play! We've got a great group of kids who represent our county so well, and we couldn’t be prouder.

IF
With all respect to Rudyard Kipling

If you can step up with your heart still pounding,
While doubts and cheers swirl loud around your ears, If you can stand there, all the nerves compounding, But keep your eyes dry, brushing back the tears— If you can square your stance and find your footing,
And face the pitcher's fire with bat held tight,
If you can hear the dugout's hopeful shouting,
Yet block it out and see the ball just right

If you can take the trials and tribulations,
And turn them into strength that doesn't fade,
If you can fail and rise and try again,
And treat each out as just a step ahead,
If you can laugh with teammates now and then, But keep that fire burning in your head -
If you can play for love, not just the glory,
And chase each chance like it's all in fun
Yours is the field, the sky, and all that glory, And-what is more-you'll be a hitter,my son.
