Memories

The building that once stood on the ground of the DeBerry Community Center property was the DeBerry Elementary School. A school with three classrooms, for grades first through sixth. It was my school during grades first through third. Throughout my life, the building was used as our Community Center. The activities that were held there are too numerous to name. In 2010 the building was destroyed by arson.

It would be a tremendous blessing to have a place where we can, once again, come together and enjoy family-oriented activities as a community. Remember all the dances we had back when? The annual holiday events? The weekly Keno games the ladies of the community held? The riding club events, the baseball games? How about another wedding at the DeBerry Community Center! You didn't know there was a wedding there? Well, there was! The potential for a building and activities are endless! As well as a place that is available for those in the community, and surrounding communities, to use for their own events.

If you are a resident of DeBerry and are interested in helping us improve the efforts to build and maintain support for events, activities and services for DeBerry and neighboring communities through the DeBerry Community Center, please make plans to attend the monthly meetings. Monthly membership meetings of the DeBerry Community Center are held the first Monday of the month at 7:00 PM, unless the day falls on a holiday, then it's the following Monday. The meetings are held at the Community 4 Volunteer Fire Department in DeBerry, beside the DeBerry Community Center’s property. Mark your calendars!

If you are not a current member, annual membership dues are only $10 per person and are payable before any meeting. We hope to see you at the meetings!
