*^Twenty Four Hours A Day^*

A.A. Thought for the Day

When we come into A.A., looking for a way out of drinking, we really need a lot more than that. We need fellowship. We need to get the things that are troubling us out into the open. We need a new outlet for our energies and we need a new strength beyond ourselves that will help us face life instead of running away from it. In A.A. we find these things that we need. Have I found the things that I need?

Meditation for the Day

Turn out all thoughts of doubt and fear and resentment. Never tolerate them if you can help it. Bar the windows and doors of your mind against them, as you would bar your home against a thief who would steal in to take away your treasures. What greater treasures can you have than faith and courage and love? All these are stolen from you by doubt and fear and resentment. Face each day with peace and hope. They are results of true faith in God. Faith gives you a feeling of protection and safety that you can get in no other way.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that I may feel protected and safe, but not only when I am in the harbor. I pray that I may have protection and safety even in the midst of the storms of life.

*~*^Big Book Quote^*~*

"Let no alcoholic say he cannot recover unless he has his family back. This just isn't so. In some cases the wife will never come back for one reason or another. Remind the prospect that his recovery is not dependent upon people. It is dependent upon his relationship with God. We have seen men get well whose families have not returned at all. We have seen others slip when the family came back too soon."

*^Daily Reflections^*

HAPPINESS IS NOT THE POINT

I don't think happiness or unhappiness is the point. How do we meet the problems we face? How do we best learn from them and transmit what we have learned to others, if they would receive the knowledge?
AS BILL SEES IT, p. 306

In my search "to be happy", I changed jobs, married and divorced, took geographical cures, and ran myself into debt-financially, emotionally and spiritually. In A.A., I'm learning to grow up. Instead of demanding that people, places and things make me happy, I can ask God for self-acceptance. When a problem overwhelms me, A.A.'s Twelve Steps will help me grow through the pain. The knowledge I gain can be a gift to others who suffer with the same problem. As Bill said, "When pain comes, we are expected to learn from it willingly, and help others to learn. When happiness comes, we accept it as a gift, and thank God for it." (As Bill Sees It, p. 306)

Thoughts For The Day~

^*^*^*^*^
Meditation

"Perhaps one of the greatest rewards of meditation and prayer is the sense of belonging that comes to us. We no longer live in a completely hostile world. We are no longer lost and frightened and purposeless. We know that God lovingly watches over us. We know that when we turn to Him, all will be well with us, here and hereafter."
Bill W., Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 105
As Bill Sees It, p. 117

Thought to Consider . . .

Prayer is asking a question; meditation is listening to the answer.

Michael J. Kornacki “Knack”

Mike “Knack” Kornacki had worked in the recovery field for many years. Knack worked as a Senior Director at sober living programs in both Daytona Beach Florida and Greenville South Carolina. In his capacity he counseled and helped hundreds of men. He also served as the court liaison officer where he helped scores of men have a chance in recovery instead of prison. Mike was a firm believer in the 12 Step program and sponsored many men who got and stayed sober.

Knack was killed in an unfortunate motorcycle accident in Greenville, South Carolina on November 3, 2017. He died sober and left a very powerful message and legacy behind.

Besides helping men get sober, there was perhaps nothing in this world that Mike loved more than riding his Harley Davidson. He passed away doing what he loved. He will be greatly missed by many.

Our Mission The Michael Kornacki Foundation, Inc.’s mission is to provide support for those seeking help from drug and alcohol addiction.
