💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

This month, VFCCH joins our community in raising awareness, supporting survivors, and standing against domestic violence in all its forms.

Domestic violence can impact every part of a person’s life, including their safety, financial stability, and ability to maintain safe and stable housing. For many survivors, leaving an abusive situation can also mean facing the difficult reality of housing instability or homelessness.

Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and in their relationships. Healthy relationships are built on respect, trust, safety, equality, and choice, not fear or control.

Throughout October, we encourage our community to learn the signs of abuse, listen without judgment, support survivors, and help connect those in need with resources.

💜 Believe survivors.
💜 Respect their choices.
💜 Know the signs.
💜 Help build a community where everyone has a safe place to call home.

The Volusia Flagler County Coalition for the Homeless is excited to once again partner with Toys for Tots as a distribution site for the 2026 holiday season! ❤️💚

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, Toys for Tots distributed 47,000 toys to 15,664 children in 2025 and we are excited to be part of making Christmas special for local families again this year!

Now is the time to review your emergency plans, build your hurricane supply kit, and make sure your family is prepared before a storm threatens our area.

Preparedness is especially important for seniors, individuals experiencing homelessness, people with disabilities, and households with pets. Taking small steps today can help protect you and your loved ones later.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. A time to recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health. At Volusia-Flagler County Coalition for the Homeless, we understand that stable housing, support systems, compassion, and access to resources all play a vital role in mental wellness.

Mental health challenges can affect anyone, and no one should have to face them alone. This month, we encourage our community to prioritize self-care, check in on one another, and help break the stigma surrounding mental health conversations.

A simple act of kindness, listening without judgment, or connecting someone to support can make a meaningful difference. Together, we can continue building a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate community for all. 💚
