Bethune-Cookman University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences has received two federal awards totaling $5,169,169 from the Health Resources and Services Administration. This marks the first time B-CU has received HRSA funding.

The $2,190,703 WildCat Nursing Student Success Project will strengthen the path from high school through BSN graduation. The $2,978,466 Project RISE-RN will create a new route into registered nursing for working health care professionals.

Separately, a $250,000 appropriation from the State of Florida will help launch B-CU’s dual enrollment nursing program, allowing local high school students to begin earning nursing credits before graduation.

These investments build on the strength of a nursing program ranked No. 2 in the nation by http://Nurse.org and whose graduates have achieved a 100% first-time NCLEX pass rate for more than two years. The funding will help B-CU prepare more nurses to serve rural and medically underserved communities.

Bethune-Cookman University is pleased to welcome Joyce Hanks Moorehead, Esq., and Alice Williams to its Board of Trustees.

Trustee Moorehead brings firsthand knowledge of B-CU as an alumna and philanthropist whose generosity has supported students across the University. As a retired Disney executive and United Methodist lay leader, Trustee Williams brings experience in organizational leadership, church governance and investment oversight.

Their terms began Oct. 1, 2026.

When we say All of Us, All In, we really mean it.

This past weekend was a true All In Huddle, a celebration of community, legacy, and the people who continue to believe in the future of Bethune-Cookman University.

As we celebrated 122 years of Founder’s Day, multiple churches from across our community came together to pour back into the next generation, donating scholarships to support our Wildcats. And during Open House, another future Wildcat received a scholarship a beautiful reminder that the impact of this community reaches far beyond today.

Over the weekend, we celebrated our 122nd Founder’s Day at Bethune-Cookman University, and what an amazing celebration it was!

On October 3, 1904, a young Black woman named Mary Jane McLeod Bethune opened the doors of the Daytona Educational and Industrial Training School for Negro Girls. She started with five little girls, her life savings of $1.50, and an immeasurable amount of faith in the God of possibilities. Indeed, little is much when God is in it!

One hundred and twenty-two (122) years later, Bethune-Cookman University is one of the most prominent HBCUs in the nation with cutting-edge academic programs, powerhouse D1 athletics, a world-renowned marching band and concert chorale, and so much more.

Our founder smiled down upon us this past Saturday with a major football upset against Alabama State University and volleyball victories against Jackson State University and Mississippi Valley State University.

Today, we celebrated Founder’s Day and 122 years of Bethune-Cookman University by opening our campus doors to future Wildcats and their families!

From campus tours and connecting with our community to experiencing the energy of Wildcat football, it was a day filled with history, pride, and a glimpse into what it means to be part of the B-CU family.

As we honor the vision of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, we’re reminded that her legacy continues to welcome, educate, empower, and inspire the next generation.

The Weekender is BACK 🎥🐾

Wildcats, we had to run it back one time. Homecoming 2026 gave us memories, but now it’s back to business. Stay locked in, handle those classes, get involved, and remember: the degree is still the mission. 🎓

This week, we’re also celebrating community, heart, and legacy.

❤️ Nearly 500 Wildcats and supporters showed up for the 2026 Volusia Flagler Heart Walk, standing alongside the American Heart Association and honoring the strength and journey of Ava-Rose.

🎉 And today, we celebrate 122 years of Bethune-Cookman University. What began in 1904 with $1.50 and the extraordinary vision of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune continues to grow, inspire, and shape generations.

The legacy lives. The vision continues. And Wildcats, we’re still writing the next chapter.

When Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune opened her school in 1904, she began with $1.50 and found resourceful ways to secure its future, including selling homemade sweet potato pies to raise funds.

During Founder’s Week, we return to that history in the kitchen with a reminder that Bethune-Cookman University began not simply with a vision, but with Dr. Bethune’s determination to sustain it, one contribution, and sometimes one pie, at a time. 🥧 ❤️💛
