Sometimes a scoresheet tells the story.

937 Hoop Dreams - Class of 2029 freshmen went toe-to-toe last night with a team featuring:
• 3 varsity senior starters
• Players from a 13-1 SWBL Championship team
• A team that finished 24-3 overall - District Champs & Regional Runner-ups in the State Tournament
• The SWBL Player of the Year

And our boys battled for 40 minutes.

Balanced scoring.
Unselfish basketball.
Tough defense.
No fear.

Came up a little short, but showed exactly the kind of toughness and team basketball this program is built on.

Faith Over Fear.

937 Hoop Dreams - Class of 2029 is looking to set up competitive scrimmages and joint practices with 9th grade boys programs for the Month of May.

Show these guys some love ❤️ ...... they earned it.

Four championship game appearances in our first five tournaments!

This weekend:
• Missing our big man due to injury
• One on a bad ankle
• One battling illness

And still played for gold in a competitive Athletes In Action field.

Ran into an older group of all Sophomores & Juniors in the finals and competed very well.

Guys stepped into bigger roles and delivered.

Next man up.

4–0 this weekend. Gold Champions.

This group has no quit in them and they’re building memories that will last a lifetime along the way.

They beat a top Kentucky team twice. Once in pool play and then again in the championship. Holding them to just 36 points in both matchups.

In fact, across all four games, opponents scored just 36, 33, 32, and 36.

Defense carried us in the tournament, anchored by Ethan Gilliam and Caleb Pearson at the top of our extended 2-1-2 zone, consistently frustrating opposing offenses.

And it opened the door for Caleb Hess to step up in a big way in the championship game. He knocked down clutch shot after clutch shot in the final minutes and finishing with 21 points in a 37–36 win.

But make no mistake, this was a complete team effort from start to finish.

Energy. Toughness. Togetherness.

These are the moments they’ll remember.

That’s what this is really about.

937 Hoop Dreams 2029

Gold Bracket Finalists at the Bearcat Classic 🥈
(33-team field)

This group battled all weekend and earned their way to the Gold Bracket championship game before coming up just short against a tough Louisville squad.

Proud of the way these guys competed together.

We’re learning what it really takes:
✔️ Compete every possession
✔️ Defend with purpose
✔️ Trust each other

This is a step forward… not the finish line.

Becoming undeniable.

Strong performance Thursday night in Kingdom League play.
91–61 win against an older, upperclassmen group.

Proud of how this group competed.

More important than the result…
this team is learning to defend, rebound, and hold each other accountable every possession.

Back at it again today in the loaded Bearcat Classic.

937 Hoop Dreams - Class of 2029 grateful to be at the UD Arena last night watching the NIT quarter final match between our Dayton Flyers and the Redbirds of Illinois State.

We were fortunate the fine folks at UD Arena set us up in one of their private suites to get to watch the game from a unique birds-eye view.

Coach Wade Oconnor was in attendance - former UD assistant and the founder of 937 Hoop Dreams and Make Plays Today. Also there was Club Admin Brian Oliver who donates his time and works tirelessly to make this organization better everyday.

Even though the Flyers had a tough night of adversity, losing their MVP point guard Javon Bennett early in the game due to injury and then falling behind as many as 19 points, there was no quit in them. They fought back to cut the lead to just 5 points and with a chance to cut it down to a three points with 2 minutes to go before eventually falling 61-55.

Back to work on the court tonight for 937 Hoop Dreams - Class of 2029 as we play up in the high school league at the Kingdom Center and go on to compete this weekend in a loaded Bearcat Classic field at Spooky Nook Champion Mill.
