Cooperative organizing runs on relationships and relationships need room to breathe, grow, and celebrate. 🧡🩵

That’s why Co-op Fest became such a special tradition. Since 2018, it has brought together co-op members, neighbors, partners, and friends to share food, music, stories, and the joy of being in community with one another.

These moments remind us that the work isn't just about building organizations or launching projects. It's about building connections, creating belonging, and celebrating what we can accomplish together.

As we celebrate 10 years of Co-op Dayton, we're reflecting on all the relationships, collaborations, and friendships that have carried this movement forward. This is why we do it.

What started as one community-owned grocery store grew into something much bigger. The opening of Gem City Market sparked a ripple effect of new ideas, collaborations, and community-led projects across Dayton.

Since then, Co-op Dayton has worked alongside people building construction and trucking companies, launching community brands and social media platforms, creating fitness and wellness spaces, and organizing around housing, land, and cooperative ownership.

Behind the scenes, we’ve supported these ideas with market research, financial modeling, stakeholder engagement, and cooperative development, helping turn community visions into real, lasting projects.

One idea created momentum.
That momentum created possibility.
And this community keeps proving what’s possible when people build together.

Join us as we celebrate 10 years of cooperative impact!

Ten years ago, this was just an idea powered by community✨

These photos take us back to the early days of the Gem City Market project, when neighbors, organizers, and supporters came together to imagine something bigger for Dayton.

Co-op Dayton got its start leading the Gem City Market effort through community organizing, fundraising, and serving as the developer for the building. What started as a bold vision grew into a movement rooted in cooperation, community ownership, and collective power.

As we celebrate 10 years of Co-op Dayton, we’re reflecting on how far we’ve come and all the people who made this journey possible.

Join us as we celebrate the last decade, and look ahead to the future, at our 10 Year Anniversary Party!

April 15 marked Co-op Dayton’s 10-year anniversary!

Ten years ago, a group of neighbors asked a simple question: what if we owned our local grocery store?

That idea sparked something bigger than we imagined. Since then, Co-op Dayton has supported 40+ businesses and community projects, provided over $600,000 in non-extractive loans, trained 100+ entrepreneurs, and built a growing network of worker-owners.

We built this together and we’re just getting started. Over the next few months, we’ll be celebrating, reflecting, and sharing what’s next. Stay with us. The best is still ahead. 🩵🧡✨

Get ready to sample some great beverages and food and support ABLE at the same time at Fifth Street Brewpub!

Check out a great selection of auction baskets and help those who are not able to access civil legal services on their own. Baskets will include gift certificates to local restaurants, movies or activities to do in the Dayton Area. Your participation will make it possible for ABLE to continue to help families stay together, keep people in their homes, support children in school, and help those facing civil legal challenges receive fair representation.

When in comes unity,
outcomes become unified,
incomes become fortified,
fear becomes mortified,
and our communities become less divided.

Work with us — in community.
Join us in embodying solidarity in our economy.
Join us as we speak and live it into existence.
Call unity into our space — say “In come, Unity.”

You showed up. đź’š

On Giving Tuesday, you gave over $1,000.

Thank you for choosing solidarity.

You said: "I believe in community-controlled food systems. I believe in communities owning their own assets. I believe in training cooperative entrepreneurs to address real challenges."

Every gift—whether it was $5 or $500—was a choice. A choice to invest in cooperative economics. A choice to support communities controlling their own futures. A choice to build something different, even when it takes longer than we hoped.

You brought us to $7,391 toward our $12,000 year-end goal, with $4,609 still to go by December 31st.

We'll get there—because people like you keep choosing cooperation.
