This past weekend, we crowned the new 2026 Dayton Rodeo Queens and announced our 2026 Dayton Rodeo American Flag & Iowa Flag Carriers! 🤠🇺🇸

On Saturday, May 9, the day was filled with pageant and tryout activities. The American Flag tryouts consisted of horsemanship and a National Anthem pattern, while the queen pageant included horsemanship, interviews, modeling, impromptu questions, and a written test.

Saturday night gave everyone a chance to relax and bond a little more. We ordered pizza, shared stories, and even made dinosaurs out of air-dry modeling clay! 🦖🍕

Sunday afternoon, we officially crowned and announced our 2026 Dayton Rodeo Royalty:

💙 2026 Dayton Rodeo Iowa Flag Carrier – Sarah Frisbie
👑 2026 Dayton Rodeo Jr. Queen – Millie Egli
👑 2026 Dayton Rodeo Queen – Addison Anderson

We cannot thank our judges, contestants, contestants’ parents, Dayton Wranglers Saddle Club Board members, and Dayton Championship Rodeo Celebration Committee Board members enough for everything you do. Your dedication to the future of rodeo and our organization does not go unnoticed!

A huge shoutout goes to Cole Walters for all of his hard work throughout the weekend. From cleaning Shed ‘37, pushing cattle down for horsemanship, to helping hold gates and horses — we appreciate you!

Thank you as well to Lynnlee Campbell for all of your hard work this weekend. We hope to have you back again in the future!

365 days with these four outstanding people simply wasn’t enough. ❤️🤍💙

Caden — thank you for being the little brother of the group. From making fun of Shelby, to holding bobby pins, to giving us all a laugh while blasting music way too loud… thank you for always keeping us entertained.

Kalie — thank you for being our reality check when we needed one most… or for being ready with an absolutely unhinged joke at the perfect time. You kept us grounded and laughing all year long.

Lydia — thank you for always bringing the creative ideas, the energy, and the excitement. You always found ways to make everything more fun and memorable.

Sarah — thank you for being the “grandmother” of the group while somehow also knowing exactly how to party. Whether its singing “Amish Paradise” or just laughing so hard our stomachs hurt, you kept us all in line… well… most of the time.

To our outgoing Dayton Rodeo Flag Carriers & Rodeo Queens — thank you for the memories, laughs, late nights, and friendships we’ll never forget. You each made this year so special in your own way, and we are beyond lucky to have shared it with you.

Come support these talented contestants as they compete in horsemanship, interviews, modeling, impromptu questions, and rodeo events throughout the weekend!

🐎 Horsemanship Competition – Saturday at 8:00 AM
👢 Modeling & Impromptu Questions – Saturday at 11:00 AM
🤠 Rodeo Performances – Saturday & Sunday at 1:00 PM
👑 2026 Crowning Ceremony – Sunday at 12:30 PM

The contestants will also be participating in grand entry and helping throughout the rodeo performances, making this a fun-filled weekend for the whole family!

February was sure a busy yet rewarding month for our Dayton Rodeo Queens as they stayed actively involved in our community events and fundraising efforts.

On February 21, the Queens and our American Flag Carrier hosted the Chili Cook-Off & Bingo fundraiser, where they played a key role in making the event a success. They assisted with bingo, served up delicious chili and sweet treats, and had the opportunity to connect with attendees by sharing stories and highlights from their year representing the Dayton Rodeo. It was a great evening filled with laughter, good food, and community support. Congratulations to our 2026 Chili Cook-Off Winner, Dustyn Dorothy!

The following weekend, on February 28, the Queens and our American Flag Carrier attended the Dayton Wranglers Pony Express Dance held at the Laramar Ballroom in Fort Dodge. Dressed for the occasion, they helped with the live auction, engaging with guests, and encouraging participation to help raise funds for a great cause. Afterward, they enjoyed an evening of dancing, celebrating alongside community members and supporters. Both events showcased the queens’ dedication to giving back, representing the rodeo, and making a positive impact wherever they go.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be postponing the 2026 Dayton Rodeo American Flag Carrier Tryouts to the first Match of the Broncs on May 9, 2026. This will take place at the same time as the 2026 Dayton Rodeo Queen Pageant.

Sign-ups for both the tryouts and the Queen Pageant are still open! Please message this page or Shelby Sorenson for more information.

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, now’s your chance! We are currently accepting Dayton Rodeo Queen Pageant applications and gauging interest for American Flag Carrier Tryouts. Here’s everything you need to know 👇

🇺🇸 American Flag Carrier Tryouts
• Must be a paid Dayton Wrangler member at least 30 days prior to tryouts (by March 20).
• No application required — just let me know if you plan to try out!
• Tryouts: April 19, 2026 at 12:00 PM
• Location: Dayton Rodeo Arena
• Tryout events include: Horsemanship & National Anthem Run

👑 Dayton Rodeo Queen Pageant
• Must be a paid Dayton Wrangler member at least 30 days prior (by April 9).
• Application deadline: April 25
• Late deadline: May 4 ($50 late fee applies)
• Pageant dates: May 9–10
• Location: Dayton Rodeo Arena
• Pageant activities: May 9
• Crowning: Before the rodeo on May 10
• Pageant events include: Horsemanship, Personal interviews, Modeling, Impromptu speaking / prepared speech & Written test
