Congratulations to Jude for receiving a superior rating at today’s district science fair, as well as awards from Society of Military Engineers and American Society of Mechanical Engineering. He will participate in State Science Day at OSU in May for his third year in a row!

Congrats, also, to all of the middle and high school students from the Dayton and Springfield areas who worked diligently on their projects and presented today.

Student Jude presented his months long science fair research project to the mechanical engineering team from Integra Beauty, one of our neighbors in the Hub. He appreciated their insightful questions and valuable feedback as he hopes to take his project to State Science Day for a third year.

Jude says the opportunity to participate in science fair as a high school student has been one of his favorite things about being a Valor Montessori student. Individuality, real world learning, critical thinking, and communication are key parts of a Montessori secondary education that helps teens prepare themselves for adulthood.

As children grow into adolescents and their abstract understanding develops, there is less need for the concrete Montessori materials they used in their elementary classrooms. But as anyone who has worked with them knows, those beautiful materials still appeal to curious learners of all ages.

Last week a student was nostalgically wishing for a set of pin maps to review the names and locations of Earth's countries, so we worked together to make it happen. We just finished crafting our beautiful but economical set of homemade pin maps for five of the continents this morning!
