In Rhea County, we work best when we work together.

And this week, the Town of Spring City, TN and Spring City Chamber of Commerce delivered big, setting the stage for a successful midweek meeting.

Thank you to our partners โ€” including Tennessee Valley Authority, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and Southeast Tennessee Development District, among others โ€” who make progress possible.

Moving forward is a team game ๐Ÿฅ‡

Moving forward doesn't mean forgetting the past.

And that's why on Saturday, FORCE-Friends of Rhea Countyโ€™s Elite broke ground on a brand-new memorial which will honor Rhea County's armed forces veterans and first responders.

Thanks to cross-community and public-private partnerships, the memorial is roughly 40 percent funded โ€” and still raising cash.

Find out how to give toward the park's construction โ€” or how to purchase a memorial brick or column โ€” by visiting FORCE-Friends of Rhea Countyโ€™s Elite or friendsofrheacoelite.com/

It's going to "bee" a great week ๐Ÿ

We're celebrating National Garden Week with our Busy Bee friends at Dayton Garden Club.

The Dayton Garden Club adopted the Rhea Welcome Center this year for a series of projects, including replacing our landscaping in front and introducing a brand-new pollinator garden (below) on previously unused space beside our office.

Check out the Busy Bees' upcoming event on Tuesday, June 9, which will be at the Welcome Center, to learn more about the role gardens and plants play in overall well-being.

The flyer below included more info for those interested in attending.

Moving forward means taking responsibility for our tomorrows.

Happy Birthday, Watts Bar Unit One ๐ŸŽ‚

Since May 1996, Unit One at Tennessee Valley Authority's Watts Bar Nuclear Plant has been producing the safest, most efficient power supply available in the world today โ€” nuclear.

TVA is consistently rated among the top utility generators in the country (and the largest publicly-owned utility) and the utility's Spring City, Tenn., plant is an economic development super conductor for our region.

Employing thousands of Rhea County residents over the last three decades while powering the Tennessee Valley's economy, TVA remains one of our community's largest and most important partners.

Today, Watts Bar Nuclear Plant operates Units One and Two in Spring City, on the banks of the Tennessee River.

Thank you for 30 years of low-cost, reliable power, Tennessee Valley Authority ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

This Memorial Day weekend, we remember the brave men and women of America's armed services who gave their all in the pursuit of liberty and freedom for all.

Since 1776, approximately 1.3 million Americans have paid the ultimate price either in battle or as the result of battle-related injuries.

Rhea County has been no exception โ€” while impossible to know an exact number, East Tennessee Veterans Memorial Association - ETVMA estimates approximately 86 service members from Rhea County have been lost in service since World War I began in 1910.

This weekend, we honor their sacrifice, along with the 1 million-plus from across the country whose lives paved the way for 250 years of American democracy ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Thank you, Tennessee Valley Authority ๐Ÿ’ก

One of Rhea County's largest employers and the heart of economic development in the Tennessee Valley, Watts Bar Nuclear Plant generates power that moves millions of homes and businesses forward.

Today, RheaECD organized a delegation of local leaders โ€” including educators, elected officials and large private employers โ€” to tour Watts Bar's operations and training centers.

TVA and local leaders, together, are creating career paths for Rhea County residents and students, while powering the entire Tennessee Valley economy.

Great partners like TVA are moving Tennessee forward.

Move forward with us.
