Calling all cooks and bakers! 🍲🥧

Do you have a chili recipe that everyone raves about? Or a pumpkin dessert that’s always the first to disappear at family gatherings?

It’s time to put those recipes to the test!

We’re looking for contestants for this year’s PumpkinFest Chili Cook-Off & Pumpkin Baking Contest! Whether you’re known for your secret chili recipe or your homemade pumpkin treats, we’d love to see you join the friendly competition!

🚦 Highway 27 Traffic Signal Update

The City of Dayton is aware of concerns from residents and motorists regarding the timing and synchronization of traffic signals along Highway 27, particularly the delays experienced when traveling through multiple intersections.

We want the community to know that improvements are already underway.

The City was recently awarded funding through the TDOT Traffic Signal Modernization Program to evaluate signal operations along the Highway 27 corridor. Beginning in September, traffic engineers started assessing the signals and collecting information on traffic patterns and current operations.

The study will help determine how the signals can be better timed and coordinated based on actual traffic conditions. Once that work is completed, the signal controllers are expected to be reprogrammed beginning early next year using the results of the study.

Currently, much of the corridor operates using fixed-time signal timing, which does not respond dynamically to changing traffic volumes. The goal of this project is to improve coordination between intersections, reduce unnecessary delays, and provide more efficient traffic flow along one of Dayton’s busiest corridors.

We appreciate everyone who has shared concerns about the traffic lights, as well as your patience while this work is completed. The City recognizes the issue and is actively working with TDOT toward improvements.

Some people don’t just show up—they roll up their sleeves and make it happen. 🤎

A HUGE thank you to Alan Garrison and his restaurants, and to Zac Azbill of Azbill Jewelry, for the incredible support they gave to Savor Dayton: Farm to Table.

Zac especially did some serious heavy lifting behind the scenes—from cooking to serving and making sure our guests were taken care of. 👏🏼

Events like Savor Dayton are truly a community effort, and we’re so grateful for the local businesses and people who step in wherever they’re needed to help make the evening a success.

When the weather changed our plans, Scoopy’s Cafe & Ice Cream stepped up in a BIG way. ❤️

With very little notice, they opened their doors and gave Savor Dayton a place to gather, eat, laugh, and enjoy the evening together, rain and all. ☔️🍽️

We are incredibly grateful for their flexibility, hospitality, and willingness to say “yes” when our community needed them.

Thank you, Scoopy’s, for helping us turn an unexpected change of plans into a beautiful night to remember! 🫶
