Our mission is to foster a compassionate and engaged community dedicated to preventing animals from entering the shelter system and saving those at risk of being euthanized.

🐾 They don’t see unfinished floors. They see a place to play. 🐾

Millie and Rocky couldn’t care less that the floors still need epoxy. They’re too busy wrestling, zooming, and enjoying the space that so many people have worked so hard to build.

Two years ago, we started PORT with a mission to save the pets most at risk of euthanasia. Since then, we’ve given 958 second chances, achieved a 96.4% live save rate, and built a community that believes every animal deserves an opportunity.

Now we’re just weeks away from opening PORT+ to the public.

But we’re not quite there yet.

We still need to:
✨ Epoxy the floors in multiple rooms and the lobby
🎨 Finish painting (and then paint some more)
🌿 Complete landscaping
🛋️ Furnish our Treat & Greet rooms
📚 Finalize our education and volunteer spaces
🐕 Build fencing for our exercise and playgroup yards
🔨 And tackle a handful of final projects before opening day

Our goal is to raise $10,000 by June 14 so we can be ready to welcome the community on June 20.

Every donation, share, and word of encouragement gets us one step closer to opening the doors to a facility built entirely around giving animals a better future.

Have you ever wanted your very own land seal? Meet Elsa.

This young, all-white pocket pittie is the perfect mix of cuddle bug and party girl. One minute she’s ready to zoom around and enjoy life’s adventures, and the next she’s curled up beside you for a nap like she’s been your best friend forever.

Elsa has done wonderfully with other dogs and would love a canine buddy to romp around with. At the shelter, she’s been making the most of enrichment time, sniffing, exploring, and showing off her fun personality. But what she’d really love is something much simpler:

A couch.
A family.
A place to belong.

She’s got the cutest little low-rider build, the sweetest face, and enough love packed into her tiny body to fill an entire house.

Right now, Elsa is waiting. Waiting for someone to see past the kennel and imagine her stretched out on their couch, snuggled under a blanket, and following them from room to room like the loyal companion she was meant to be.

🐾 Meet Mini 🐾

Mini is a tiny Chihuahua with a story that explains why she takes her time deciding who to trust.

At just 3–4 years old, Mini came to us from a hoarding situation where survival meant looking out for herself and protecting her babies. Somewhere along the way, she learned that people weren’t always safe. She learned to be cautious. To keep her distance. To watch before she believed.

But if you’re willing to meet her where she is, something beautiful happens.

Sit quietly with Mini. Give her time. Let her decide you’re one of the good ones. Before long, you’ll see her walls start to come down. The nervous glances turn into curious looks. The cautious distance becomes a little closer. And eventually, you’ll discover the sweet girl hidden underneath all that self-protection.

Mini does well around other dogs and has also done well with cats. Children, especially young and busy ones, are simply too overwhelming for her. She would do best in a calm home with adults or older, respectful children who understand that trust is earned, not demanded.

She’s not the dog who will run up to greet every stranger.

She’s the dog who will choose you.

And when a dog like Mini decides you’re her person, it means everything. ❤️

At just 2 years old, Cosmic is the kind of dog people spend months searching for. Medium-sized, handsome in his classic black-and-white tuxedo, and equipped with all the life skills that make living with a dog easy.

Our volunteers and fosters can tell you all about each animal’s personality, likes, quirks, and what they’re looking for in a home. Same-day adoptions are available, and many of our animals are already living in foster homes so we know them well.
