Congrats to Discover Classical!!!

Discover Classical (WDPR 88.1 FM), the Dayton region’s all-classical public radio station, will celebrate its move to 130 W. Second St. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2.

"Dayton Ballet, one of the oldest ballet companies in the U.S., is about to enter its 89th season. Shepherding the company since 2023 has been 41-year-old Brandon Ragland, in his first company leadership role. His vision for a diverse 21st-century ballet troupe has begun to take shape, with a mix of dancers and choreographers that are representative of today’s multifaceted and multicultural society."

DCDC is a finalist for the Bob Ross Legacy Award at the 2026 Gem City Black Business Month Awards.

The award recognizes Dayton businesses with at least twenty years of service, and those carrying a family legacy into a second generation. Jeraldyne Blunden founded this company in 1968. Her daughter, Debbie Blunden-Diggs, leads it today. Fifty-eight years later we are still here, still dancing, still rooted in this community.

One thing to know before you click: the ballot asks for a vote in all four categories. If you skip one, it will not submit. Make a pick in each, and look for Dayton Contemporary Dance Company under the Bob Ross Legacy Award.
