Miami Valley Life Alliance We believe poverty is about more than just money. Poverty afflicts people financially, intellectuall Fifth Street, Dayton, OH 45402). All are welcome!

At the Miami Valley Life Alliance, we believe poverty is about more than just money. Poverty afflicts people financially, intellectually, physically, relationally, and spiritually—these are what we call the five capitals. Often, financial hardship is how our culture defines poverty, but it is not that one-dimensional. Poverty typically originates from profoundly unmet needs in one or more areas of

our life, but is revealed in financial crisis. At the root of our approach is capitalizing on the importance of growing intentional community in each person’s life. With over a decade of collecting experience-driven data, we have found that involvement in a community, unrestrained by divides—such as ethnic, economic, political, religious, or social—is essential in alleviating financial distress and relieving the stress of isolation. Through routine, intentional involvement and experience sharing, all members of the community will better prosper in the essential aspects of life. The process involves sustained engagement, with events recurring on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at City Church. These functions always offer a healthy meal and facilitate intentional community. Participation in this community forum is designed to enlighten perspectives, illuminate the challenges we all face, and promote personal growth through sharing experiences, opening dialogue, and expanding inter-personal relationships. We welcome you to begin your journey of moving out of poverty by committing to intentional community with dedicated partners prepared to experience life together and share methods of success. Join us at 6:30pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at City Church (141 W. We look forward to working together as we actively reduce the poverty in our city.

Each October, YWCA Dayton recognizes the strength and resilience of domestic violence survivors at a special fundraising event to support YWCA Dayton’s domestic violence shelter and support services, including its 24-hour crisis hotline (937-222-SAFE). Formerly called the YWomen Breakfast, it has been refreshed (and expanded!) as Voices Against Violence to better reflect the platform it provides for both survivors and supporters to be a voice for change.

For their support as 2019 sponsors, we especially thank:
Presenting Sponsor - Riegel Financial Group
Bold Sponsors - CareSource, Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association
Advocate Sponsors - Furst The Florist & Greenhouses, Knack Creative, Omnicom Workforce Solutions

Only a few seats remain at each event! Visit ywcadayton.org/vav now to join us and be a voice against violence.

This is a friendly reminder that the Youth Resource Center will be having APG’s Monday’s and Wednesday’s. An Alternative Peer Group (APG) is a community-based, professionally staffed, positive peer support program that offers prosocial activities for adolescents who struggle with substance use disorders or self-destructive behaviors. APG models are not clinically based, but instead community-based recovery services that may have clinical support.
