NEWS UPDATE: Promising news for the alopecia areata community. New research from Nektar Therapeutics, presented as a late-breaking oral presentation at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting in Denver, showed that an investigational treatment, rezpegaldesleukin (Rezpeg), demonstrated hair regrowth in adults with severe to very severe alopecia areata. Researchers also observed a favorable safety profile.

This biologic treatment uses a novel mechanism that impacts regulatory T-cells, an approach recognized by the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
