Gala of Hope Foundation

Gala of Hope Foundation Non-Profit Organization financially serving cancer patients in the greater Dayton community.

The Gala of Hope Foundation was founded by Barbara and Bob Mills for the purpose of keeping locally raised dollars in, and benefiting, people in our region. Both Barbara and Bob have had first hand experience as to how devastating cancer can be in the life of anyone affected. Barbara's life has been touched by this disease through losing her father to cancer. Bob himself is a cancer survivor, and

tragically lost his wife to cancer, and then had to experience the lengthy leukemia treatment for his granddaughter, who is thankfully now in remission. Barbara is currently the Chief Executive Officer of CBD Advisors while Bob is the Chairman of Synergy Building Systems and The Mills Development Companies.

We love celebrating with the incredible people who make our mission possible!

Samantha Naves Elder, a truly wonderful champion and supporter of our work, recently received her invitation to our 2026 Gala, and her excitement says it all! Her enthusiasm, encouragement, and heart for this mission continue to inspire everyone around her. It’s supporters like Samantha who turn hope into action and make events like our gala so meaningful.

🎙️ Featured on the Health at Work Podcast

We’re honored to see our cofounder, Barbara Mills, featured on the Health at Work Podcast brought to you by Kettering Health and the Dayton Business Journal.

Barbara leads with a powerful guiding principle:

“If not you, who? If not now, when?”

This isn’t just a motto, it’s the force behind her leadership, her purpose, and the mission that continues to propel the Gala of Hope Foundation forward.

As Barbara shared:

💬 “I think everyone we know has a cancer story. If it’s not in your immediate family, then it’s someone you love and care for.”

That truth is what fuels our commitment to funding life-saving cancer research and bringing hope to so many.

We’re grateful to Kettering Health and the Dayton Business Journal for creating space for these important conversations around health, leadership, and impact.

💜 Proud to Support Community-Driven Care 💜

At the Gala of Hope Foundation, we believe meaningful impact happens when organizations come together around shared purpose, and this initiative is a powerful example of that collaboration.

The Maple Tree Cancer Alliance in Ohio has launched an important new study focused on preventing falls among cancer patients across the Dayton region. This research will examine how fall risk prevention and physical therapy can improve health outcomes for individuals undergoing cancer treatment, while also working to reduce long-term healthcare costs by identifying and mitigating risks early.

We are honored to jointly fund this initiative alongside the CareSource Foundation, whose commitment to addressing real gaps in care continues to make a difference in our communities.

Together, we’re investing in solutions that inform best practices and support the integration of fall risk screening and prevention strategies into standard oncology care. We’re grateful to work alongside mission-aligned partners who share our vision of creating brighter, healthier futures for those we serve. 💜
