Join us & Dayton Black Panthers The SOAR Initiative for a hot meal and more at the Levitt this Sunday! While traditionally our stationary distributions largely serve our homeless community members, we have expanded to meet some of the ever growing needs with our neighbors who have consistent access to working kitchens. The power of community is our biggest tool to pave a path toward liberation for all!

Nourish Our Neighbors and friends are in need of your support! We are currently low on funds for the November distribution and we cannot do it without y’all. While food is being used as a bargaining chip within our government, our actual community members are starving. Access to consistent meals has already been an issue plaguing the most “developed” nation in the world but we are at a point where there is little to no security in relying on government assistance. Mutual aid networks that aim to build people power is quite possibly our strongest path forward in ensuring that our neighbors are not starving, freezing, or being deprived intentionally to death. We at Nourish Our Neighbors know that when the needs of the people are not met, they are much less likely invest in the struggle against capitalism.

Please note: while we firmly encourage anyone to help how they can by donating and volunteering at established food pantries, there is a stark contrast in how your donations will be distributed through a mutual aid program rather than the aforementioned services. More often than not these programs are medium to high barrier to receive any help. Nourish Our Neighbors has always, and will always, run a 0 barrier model of distribution. We meet the people where they are at and do our absolute best to meet any need we are asked to. Please consider donating or joining (or both) our mutual aid network today, we need you! Join us and the Dayton BPP for our BOTG distribution of winter survival kits this Sunday at 1:00 PM at the Levitt Pavilion! While climate change has made the weather even more unpredictable, we want to ensure our homeless community members are given a fighting chance to make it through the fall of the temperatures into the next week. While the city *sometimes* opens up warming centers, we meet lots of people who cannot physically make it to the warming centers or rather, can’t leave all of their belongings outside leaving lots of Daytonians in freezing temperatures. Mylar blankets, socks, hand warmers, and beanies are the absolute bare minimum. While Dayton city officials enjoy a cozy fall our most disenfranchised community members are preparing to survive yet another winter outside.

So excited for our last dialogue for black august!! Please join us in talking about what unity in the community can look like through decolonized actions, and what groups across the country have been able to do! We’ll also have people from our own communtiy there to speak on actions they have going on!

Organizers and volunteers from Socialist Unity Network, Nourish Our Neighbors, and the Dayton Black Panther Party organized a free food and hygiene service at the Levitt Pavilion in Dayton this weekend. We served about a hundred meals, gave out hygiene products, socks, underwear and shoes!

It’s finally official! Nourish Our Neighbors is sueing the city of Dayton! Since our volunteer was detained and immediately released in April this year for handing out free food to a community member, we’ve been going to city commission meetings and asking commissioners and the mayor to repeal the ordinance that makes handing out free food and toiletries illegal in courthouse square. We were ignored for months and months, so we decided to take this to the courts! Huge thanks to You Are The Power for your unwavering support and getting us in contact with Pacific Legal Foundation who decided to take on this case with us! More information regarding the court case will follow!

Volunteer groups sues Dayton for requiring permit to hand out food to homeless downtown

Please join us for our August meal service! Wether you are someone who needs our services or wants to come build community all are welcome. We have been doing mobile services more frequently recently due to the gentrification of downtown Dayton, we are having to scale down to ensure the least food waste so 75 meals will be available. Can’t wait to see y’all!

We had so much fun at the annual Juneteenth festival put on by the panthers!
We sold an array of items and handed out free hygiene items, narcan, and nonperishable food items ! Solidarity and happy Juneteenth!
