I was asked to comment on the US Supreme Court’s decision concerning presidential immunity, to wit, regarding the only president in US history to be indicted for his attempts to DIRECTLY corrupt his Justice Department, the Office of the Vice President, state officials, private parties, and the general public under the cover of absolute immunity while supposedly executing his official duties as granted to him by Congress and the US Constitution. Ultimately, the Court decided that he had absolute immunity in his attempts to corrupt US Attorney General William Barr. Trump directed Barr to investigate alleged election fraud in several states where he lost. Barr told the president in so many words that he was a damn fool and that no fraud existed. Further, in his attempts to corrupt Vice President Pence, who had the responsibly to certify electoral votes at the conclusion of the 2020 elections, the Courts said that he had absolute immunity, again because he was acting within the scope of his official duties, where he has “conclusive and preclusive privileges”. Keep in mind that the Attorney General and the Vice President work for the President, so any conversations, communications, etc. are within the scope of his official duties.
However, regarding immunity outside the scope of his duties, the Court remanded to inferior courts the responsibility to determine whether Trump’s actions were “official or unofficial’. In other words, Trump may NOT be immune from prosecution in his attempts to corrupt state officials, private parties, and the public.
I do not know what will happen in pending court cases against Trump because conservatives over the last 50+ years have diligently worked to install a system which maintains whites at the top of the economic, political, and social order. Frankly, I am in awe by what they have accomplished thus far, especially at the US Supreme Court. Look at the image below. They have been hard at work.
Is democracy really on the ballot in November?
You are damn right it is! Here is the context. Quit being fooled by party affiliation. Party affiliation is only a smoke screen. The real battle is over ideology i.e., our ultimate beliefs. No sane person would be willing to overthrow the government because of one’s party affiliation. White conservatives, who in my opinion are more appropriately called traditionalists, want things to remain the same.
Sadly, some non-white conservatives agree with them and to be frank I agree with some of their beliefs too. But what must they do to maintain a system which is open to attack in our form of democracy (i.e., majority rule)? They must be willing to overthrow that democracy and be willing to die for a society in which they remain on top. In other words, democracy is only for them! Any such system is a system of white supremacy/racism.
This is my point of departure and where non-white conservatives get confused. For them history is past events and no indication of future events. I know history very well. I do not trust white conservatives, moderate or otherwise, because they are eventually subdued by extreme personalities.
At this point, I depart from my message to respond to the fools whom I know are thinking “What about the Democrats?” “They started the KKK!” “Black Codes, Jim Crow and everything else.” They are fools because they confuse party affiliation with ideology. The sadder part is that you would be hard pressed to convince them otherwise, even though history is clear on this issue.
More context and the real issue at hand for white Conservatives
In 2022, non-white children became the majority, and it is predicted that by 2045, non-whites will be the majority in the United States. In our form of democracy, the majority rules the government. Imagine conceding 400+ years of power to people you have conquered and ruled.
So is democracy really on the ballot in November?
You damn right it is!
