New news from The Compassionary - we are working on a curriculum to teach social emotional learning, or at the root of all things human: empathy. As we have information to share, we will surely do so. We are currently tailoring our mission statement and preparing for next steps! Homicide Prayer Vigil this morning for Isaiah Haggins, a 16 year old boy who made a mistake and paid with his life. I stood behind his grieving mother and grandmother, in and among the diverse assembled crowd, praying for the whole human family.

The Compassionary is pleased to announce our first grant award for $5000 from The Maria Anna Brunner Grant Fund. It is an honor to do our work in the spirit of The Sisters of the Precious Blood. Our efforts come together specifically with the Homicide Prayer Vigils and Ohio to Stop Executions! The funds will support all of our compassionary projects.

The Compassionary Interfaith Cooperative is taking shape. As we develop a database of faith orgs, we look forward to offering many opportunities to collaborate.
Next week, Tom Bensman and Jean Berry will attend the Petticrew Faith-in-Action Program: “The Work of Faithful People for the Common Good: Collaborating for Greater Impact” in Indianapolis. Ideas will come back to Dayton!

Bee Compassionate is alive and well all over Dayton and in my back yard! Nature at work. If you would like the Penquites to speak at your school or organization, let us know! We'll get you hooked up. If you're interested in having a hive placed in your yard, they will give you great advice!
