The Dayton Foundation has selected seven new Del Mar Encore Fellows to lead community efforts that will work to solve critical community issues in Greater Dayton, such as:
🟠 broadening access to lifelong learning opportunities;
🟢 developing a countywide initiative to assess, design and advance a sustainable system of public showers and laundry facilities; and
🔵 creating safer cycling experiences for all users on our streets and roads.

Today is DAF Day! A day to celebrate generous donors who have established donor-advised funds to help others and encourage those who have donor-advised funds to support the nonprofit organizations and causes closest to their hearts.

For the past seven years, thanks to a group of Dayton Foundation fund holders, this partnership between the Davis Center and the Foundation has given students hands-on experience managing donor assets and enabled them to donate their investment fees to local charities of their choosing.

The most recent round of grants, totaling $16,250, was awarded to the following organizations to help fulfill their missions.

Formed in 2002 by members of the former Dayton Bach Society, the Bach Society of Dayton carries forward a choral tradition that began in 1974. Over the years, the organization has explored music from a variety of cultures, creating opportunities for audiences to experience new traditions and perspectives.

Earlier this year, the Bach Society of Dayton partnered with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company to present ¡Canta y Baila!, a vibrant celebration of the rhythms, traditions and passions of Central and South America and the Caribbean.

Supported by The Dayton Foundation’s Allegro Fund, the concert helped deepen engagement with Greater Dayton’s Hispanic community while celebrating the richness of Latin American choral music, dance and culture.

With the support of a $10,000 discretionary grant from The Dayton Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Southwest Ohio's Dayton House restored its outdoor area through the Green Space for Medically Fragile Children and Families project.

After guests were moved into the new building and demolition of the former House was complete, the grounds were transformed into a sensory garden and natural play area. The grant helped fund the installation of secure fencing, making the space safer and more welcoming while maximizing accessibility for children, service animals and guests who use mobility devices.

One young guest recovering from surgery used the green space to rebuild strength through outdoor play, giving both the child and family moments of joy during the healing process.
