Whether you grew up watching Sesame Street, are a lover of classical music or stay informed by listening to All Things Considered, public media has impacted your life.

When the United States Congress voted in July 2025 to rescind two years of federal funding, which led to the dissolution of the Corporation of Public Broadcasting in January 2026, the impact was felt locally as well as nationally.

Dayton Foundation donors and supporters from across our region have been putting their hands to the plow to keep these programs that have impacted their lives around for the next generation.

Many people are drawn to the Dayton Region for its landscapes and the presence of its rivers. Protecting these natural treasures so that future generations can experience the same sense of wonder requires the generosity of our donors like the late Irv Bieser.

For more than 40 years, Irv was both a philanthropist and environmentalist. He played a key role in preserving local river corridors, supporting Five Rivers MetroParks and advancing many conservation efforts. Through his Dayton Foundation fund, his legacy continues to help protect and enrich the community’s natural spaces today.

A big thank you to 4 Paws For Ability for recently visiting The Dayton Foundation and giving our staff the chance to engage with these incredible pups firsthand!

We loved learning more about how you train service dogs to support children and adults by:
🐶 encouraging connection to help reduce feelings of isolation;
🐶 offering reliable alerts and early warnings for a variety of health needs; and
🐶 so much more that makes their owners’ everyday life safer and more independent.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to see the nonprofit organizations our donors support in action and experience the difference they make!

With the support of a $7,500 Greenlight Grant from The Dayton Foundation, Hope Road Organization is bringing youth and families together at the Hope Road Grow2Live Youth & Community Garden. Here, participants dig into gardening, discover the joys of healthy living and join in spirited games of kickball, tug-of-war and soccer.

Thanks to this grant, raised beds sprang up, fences took shape and the garden flourished with new soil, plants and essential materials. National Garden Week is next week, and this project is a great example of the impact a shared garden can have on youth and families.
