African American Visual Artists Guild We represent and support the creative diversity of the African community and it’s relationship with contemporary society.

The African American Visual Artists Guild (AAVAG), of Dayton, Ohio, was born out of the need to express visually the African American experience through a wide range of styles and subject matter using many diverse approaches and materials with a focus on communicating the artist's own spirituality. Dirty pour painting is a popular fluid art technique where multiple colors of acrylic paint are layered into a single cup (making it "dirty" with mixed colors) and then poured onto a canvas, rather than being applied with brushes. AAVAG ART TALK THIS SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21 from 2-5pm: All are invited, meet artist Jeremy Henderson, hear Henderson discuss his art on exhibit now at the African American Visual Artists' Guild (AAVAG). AAVAG has been invited to submit digital images of artwork that would be appropriate to be purchased for the new Dayton Children's Hospital that is being built on Germantown, across the street from Desoto Bass apartments. They want images that relates to children, at the present time they want digital images of the artwork, sent to their interior decorators before February 18. They want images of two dimensional (Drawings, paintings, photos, digital, reproduction prints of your originals etc.) and three dimensional (sculpture, reliefs etc.). Along with your images, we need the following information:
* Medium
* Measurements (width, height, depth)
* Sale price (AAVAG will take 20% commission on each sale), price your work accordingly
* Weight (sculpture)
* Two dimensional artwork must be framed (no glass), unless salon style canvas
* Two dimensional cannot exceed 4 feet in any direction

We need digital images before February 13, 2026, send images to [email protected] , before February 12, 2026.
If you have children that are good in art and have their artwork, that would be appropriate in a children's hospital, take a digital photo and send it to me with the above info, they want art from children students also.

All are invited to the festivities as we launch AAVAG's Exposition Through Art Program: Encore on Sunday November 16, 2-4pm. Encore is AAVAG's 5th in a series of traveling art exhibitions that bring new works to communities across our Dayton region. This exhibit seeks to build broad cultural engagement by informing audiences of the richly diverse artistic communities in Dayton.
