When one of our respite volunteers had the idea to help a housebound patient venture outside to see the many gardens on his expansive property, the collaborative effort that followed led to a wonderful afternoon and a meaningful moment for all involved.

Spiritual Care Week is October 18-24 and it is a time to recognize our team of professionals who provide spiritual care and support for the patients and families we are privileged to serve.

At a time when comfort matters most, chaplains, part of our interdisciplinary care team, are there to offer support, guidance and counseling. The support chaplains provide is inclusive of all religious faiths, traditions and backgrounds.

Thank you to the 144 golfers who joined us for our annual Golf Classic event in support of our mission of providing superior care and superior services to patients. Together we raised more than $52K to provide hospice care and grief support to families in our community.

At Ohio’s Hospice, we understand that end-of-life care isn’t just about medical needs.

When Erin Serdy, an RN care manager in our Central Care Region, found out her patient had an affection for horses and a shared a love of 4-H, she arranged to have a horse taken to the patient’s facility so she could pet a horse one last time.

We’re grateful for the care our chaplains provide to our patients and families.

As part of our interdisciplinary care team, our chaplains provide spiritual counseling and support that respects our patients’ and families’ religious and non-religious needs. They personalize their care to meet our patients where they are on their spiritual journey.

We thank them for all they do to support our mission as they make a difference in the lives of our patients and families each and every day.

Our focus to support those facing life-limiting and chronic illness is highlighted this month by the Worldwide Hospice Palliative Care Alliance (WHPCA), which helps to ensure that this essential care is made available where and when it is needed most.

The annual Celebrating Life’s Stories® Butterfly Release at Ohio’s Hospice Troy was held despite the threat of inclement weather.

Instead of registrants releasing the butterflies on the hospice property, the event was turned into a drive through, where the 249 received their purchased butterflies directly at their vehicles, along with the event program and other items.

The release brings community members together to remember and honor the special people who have touched their lives and raised $12,244 to help support our mission.

As part of our grief and bereavement resources, our Pathways of Hope team reviewed the book, “Till We Meet Again: A Children’s Book About Death and Dying,” by Julie Muller.
