An Urban Forest Master uses what we know about our urban forest—and what our community needs—to provide a clear roadmap for improving Dayton’s tree canopy in ways that help people the most. As Dayton works toward a greener, healthier, more resilient future, community voices are essential in shaping how we grow and care for our urban forest.
Join us for Urban Forest Master Plan Virtual Workshop 1, where residents will learn about the city’s ongoing study of tree canopy conditions, challenges facing Dayton’s urban forest, and how equitable, community-driven planning will guide this multi‑year effort. This session will introduce the goals of the Master Plan, highlight why trees are critical to community health and climate resilience, and show how you can be part of the planning process.
What to Expect:
*An overview of Dayton’s urban forest and why it matters.
*Insights into current challenges, including canopy loss, pests, and climate impacts.
*A look at how data, community feedback, and equity-focused engagement shape the plan.
*Ways to participate in future workshops, surveys, and advisory groups.
Your perspective will help ensure Dayton’s tree canopy grows stronger, healthier, and more equitable—benefiting every neighborhood and every resident.
Join us and help shape Dayton’s Urban Forest Master Plan!
