Central Lyon County Firefighters

This Friday afternoon, Central Lyon Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Yellow Jacket.

Engine 35 arrived first on scene, with the captain completing a 360-degree size-up after assisting law enforcement with evacuating residents from the home. Engine 39 crews initiated an interior fire attack while Rescue 37 conducted primary search operations.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire, successfully confining it to the garage and preventing it from spreading to the rest of the residence. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

We would like to thank our neighboring agencies for their assistance and partnership. carsoncity_firedepartment Storey County Fire Protection District North Lyon Firefighters

Engine 35 spent some time at Sutro Elementary School today helping students celebrate their annual Fun in the Sun Water Day!
Firefighters cooled off Pre-K through 6th grade students with the engine’s deck gun and hose streams, providing plenty of relief from the warm weather and a whole lot of fun. There were smiles everywhere, and we’re pretty sure a few firefighters enjoyed it just as much as the kids.
Events like these are also a great opportunity for us to connect with students, answer questions about the fire service, and share a little fire and life safety education along the way.
Thank you to Sutro Elementary for inviting us out to be part of another great Fun in the Sun Water Day. We always enjoy spending time with the kids and being part of the community we serve.
Have a safe and fun summer, everyone!

Let’s set the record straight. The Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada isn’t just some big-city union. The PFFN is made up of professional firefighters from communities across this entire state, including right here in Lyon County.

These are your neighbors. The men and women who respond when your house is on fire, when your family member can’t breathe, when there’s another accident on the highway 50/95 or I80. They live here, they serve here, and they have every right to make endorsements that reflect what’s best for the people they protect.

Don’t let political talking points convince you that the firefighters advocating for their community is somehow outside interference. The PFFN endorses candidates who support public safety and that’s always been about YOU, not a party or a city.

We too are Lyon County. That said, vote for the candidates you value and trust. Our endorsements are just to get you thinking and researching so that you may vote for yourself.
