The wild columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) looks beautiful right now! Just in time for the hummingbirds who are returning - the nectar is a favorite of theirs. Long-tongued bees love it, too. But what about bees that can’t reach that deep? Look for bite barks on the spurs themselves, a tell-tale sign that a bee (or other insect) has opened a make-shift back door, bypassing pollination.

On this Earth Day, we pause in gratitude for the gift of creation.🌎 We are called to live simply, act justly, and protect the beauty of God’s creation for future generations. Through places like the Marianist Environmental Education Center, we are reminded that caring for the Earth is both a responsibility and a sacred act of love.💚Let us renew our commitment today: to be mindful stewards, to nurture life, and to walk gently upon this Earth every day.🌱

At this moment, the COP30 is going towards the end, let us have a pious thought in memory of sister Dorothy Stang, who was murdered for defending the poor and the Amazon forest. May her legacy continue to illuminate all those who work for human dignity and ecological justice, wherever rights are violated and creation is under threat.
