New England Seacoast Chapter of Navhda

New England Seacoast Chapter of Navhda We were founded in 2009 to serve the coastal areas of northern New England with our base in Dayton, Maine. We held our first planning meeting on November 14th.

Our goals are to provide more opportunities for training and testing, and to just get together and have fun with our dogs. New England Seacoast is a new NAVHDA chapter, serving the coastal areas of northern New England. We are based in Kennebunk Maine, but our members come from all over northern New England. We poked around the potential training grounds, a 300ish-acre former dairy farm in Kennebu

nk. Everyone thought they would be nicely suited to our needs; the lands are nicely maintained, the owners are hunters themselves, and they are located a short distance from the highway, hotels, and other amenities needed during testing times. It was really fun watching the seven dogs we had with us racing around the fields, crashing through the woods and swimming gleefully in the beaver bogs. The potluck lunch we had afterward was pretty good, too.

Kicked off our first New England Seacoast NAVHDA training clinic of the season today and it did not disappoint šŸ™ŒšŸ¾

From pheasant tracks to chukar searches, it was a full day of learning, teamwork, and watching these dogs do what they love. The energy was high, the progress was real, and the smiles said it all.

Huge shoutout to our new members for jumping right in, our awesome volunteers for making it all happen, and of course the dogs who stole the show every step of the way.

If this is how we’re starting, it’s going to be a great season ahead šŸ”„

Cold, rainy, and a little bit miserable… but that didn’t stop this crew šŸ’ŖšŸŒ§ļø

Huge thanks to everyone who showed up and put in the work this weekend to tackle some serious brush clearing at the training grounds. It wasn’t pretty, but the progress was—our field is shaping up and ready for the dogs to do what they love.

Grateful for such a dedicated group of volunteers who don’t mind getting a little wet for the good of the chapter (and the dogs 🐾).

Now we can (hopefully) trade our rain gear for bird bags—can’t wait to see everyone at our first clinic this Sunday!
