Be Equipped

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God has given us everything we need to do His work here on earth. He has adopted us and made us heirs to His Kingdom. He has sent His Son Jesus Christ to reclaim all authority in heaven and on earth. He has given us His Word in the scriptures so that we will be equipped for every good work.

Nothing is lacking for us if we will trust God and walk into the adventure He has called us to. We have the playbook and guide right in our hands. Every word in scripture has come from God to teach us, instruct us, grow us, and save us.

Every story in the Bible will speak into our lives. God’s Word has not changed in thousands of years, and it will not change now. Just as it applied to generations a thousand years ago, it applies to us today.

For anyone seeking righteousness, the Word of God teaches, rebukes, corrects, and trains us. There is no way to hide from it when we seek a relationship with God and Jesus. The training is worth it when we are equipped to do His will!

Just as we trust in God, we can trust in His every Word. The scripture does not need to be changed or reinterpreted. God knew what He was doing when He wrote it the first time. Trust Him to reveal the depths of His Word, and He will show the depths of His love for you.

Father God, thank You for giving us Your Word! Reveal Your love story to us through the scriptures. Reveal the depths of Your character to us, and write Your Word on our hearts. In Jesus Name!

Weariness

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Your efforts will be fruitful. There are times we look at our Kingdom work and discouragement wants to set in because we are not seeing the fruit of our labor. Rest assured God sees all that you are doing and He is watering the seeds you are planting.

When discouragement creeps in, it becomes hard to fight off weariness. I’ve noticed that even in my more tired moments, when given the opportunity to share the Word of God, a new fire is lit. Rest comes from God!

Doing good is a boost to our spirit and a nourishment to our souls. Weariness tends to come from the world and the flesh. I find that working a worldly job and being in the world takes more energy than serving God, doing good, and showing love.

We are called to fend off weariness because exhaustion can weaken our alertness to the wiles of the enemy. We become vulnerable.

Be aware of your workload for the Kingdom. If the enemy cannot separate you from Christ, then he will try to overload you with ministry in a way that burdens you. The weight of it all will build until you can no longer stand. Many warriors get taken out this way.

Jesus slipped away a lot to rest. We are to do the same. We can’t give up. We will reap a harvest if we stand firm and don’t give up.

Father God, give us the strength and energy to stand firm and not grow weary. It’s Your strength that will allow us to endure until the end. We trust You and ask You to grow what has been planted so that we may see the harvest and reap the benefits of our labors. In Jesus Name!

Healed

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Healing is the desire of all of us. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t desire healing for themselves and for others. Jesus came to do just that.

All that Isaiah prophesied has come true! I find it hard to understand why Jesus would endure piercing for our transgressions, crushing for our iniquities, and all the punishment that brought us freedom? But I am thankful.

The healing that comes from this is on all levels. It is healing of our sins, transgressions, and iniquities. It’s healing for our souls and bodies. Physical, emotional, and spiritual healing all by the power of the blood of Jesus. He paid the price for this to happen.

I have seen physical healing. I have seen emotional healing. I have seen spiritual healing. The depths of God’s healing is only limited by our belief and faith.

The spiritual healing offered is for the atonement of our transgressions and iniquities. Transgressions are our rebellions against God. Iniquities are our perversions against Him, our acts of evil. He has set us free from the sin nature that is deeply rooted and hidden in our lives, families, communities, etc.

Jesus heals our trauma. All that we have seen, experienced, and endured. The deep hurts and pains that have shaped our lives. But we must seek Him, walk with Him, love Him, and trust Him. It’s not always easy, but He is always faithful. Healing is within your reach!

Father God, I ask You to reveal Your love and mercy for us through healing. Heal the trauma and the pain that we have suffered in this life. Heal our bodies, minds, souls, and emotions. Jesus, you paid the price for us, please show us how to walk in this freedom. In Jesus Name!

Refuge

But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭73‬:‭28‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Have you made God your refuge? When we walk closely with the Lord, His covering is over us. He can speak to us, commune with us, lead us, guide us, direct us, protect us. As Asaph says in this Psalm, “it is good to be near God.”

Walking with our Father has many benefits, however, we often spend much of our time walking on our own. If God is our refuge, where do we turn when we have walked away? This is where the world tries to mimic the safety of God.

False traps lie ahead when we trust the world as our refuge. While good deeds may appear to entice us, the world is not of God. It’s hard to tell of the goodness of the world… it’s impossible without the goodness of God.

God is goodness and all things good are of God. We see this when we allow Him to be our refuge. This goodness is easy to share when we tell of the deeds of God! Let our voices shout His praises and tell of all His deeds. God is good and mighty…a refuge in the midst of battle.

Father God, thank You for being our Father, our creator, our refuge. We love You! We tell the world of Your deeds! Give us a willing heart to tell Your story to others, and give us boldness to stand on Your truth. In Jesus Name!

Perseverance and Temptation

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
James 1:2-5

I love James Chapter 1! This is one of my favorite (of many) books of the bible. Knowing that thousands of years ago, God knew we would be facing problems and knowing that He would pull us through these problems is pretty cool to me.

When I am in the middle of perseverance, I keep reminding myself that perseverance is a marathon and not a sprint. Through this marathon, there are so many times that I want to give up...take a break...forget that I ever started the race. This is temptation and it is NOT from God!

When you face hard times and God is bringing you through it, evil HATES it! You are being rebuilt in God stronger than you have ever been! This is a major threat to the darkness that wants you to fail.

I expect the battle to intensify...I expect there to be resistance...evil will be defeated if we persevere and trust in God. But the surrounding darkness will throw anything it can as it panics and claws at whatever it can.

Your own selfish desires (we all have them) will come at you harder than you've ever seen. Again, trust in God, we all know what is right and what the right decision is, and it's usually not the easy decision.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.
James 1:12-16

Father God, we praise You for the hard times in our lives that draw us nearer to You! Keep us strong and teach us to persevere the trials that we must face. We seek Your wisdom and pray that we may be made mature in our relationship with You. Deliver us from the temptation to quit as we face the long battles ahead. We trust in You, Your power, Your wisdom, and look forward to what You will build in us as we persevere in Your name! In Jesus Name!

Joy in Discipline

And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”
Hebrews 12:5-6

Being disciplined or punished really is a difficult process to endure...especially when it's God doing the punishing.

I remember my coaches in high school and college and how there were many times that I really believed they hated me. They pushed and pushed and made me do more and more when I would make mistakes. It took a while to learn that they did it to make me better.

God does the same. There are many times that I want to yell out to God and blame Him for my hard times, but I can usually go back and find a spiritual mistake or a sin, and there is joy in knowing that God still cares enough to keep pushing me and correcting me and even punishing me so that I can be the man that He has called me to be.

Take no shame in punishment from God. Find joy in knowing that he still cares about you! He wants us all to be the best we can be, and that means some course corrections.

Even when we feel like we are being torn down, God uses that to rebuild us. We all have a chance as long as He still cares, and He loves us enough to never stop caring!

Father God, Thank You for setting us straight when we get off Your path. Thank You for Your love, Your grace, and Your caring. We know that You care for us when you discipline us and bring us closer to You! Please Lord, teach us to do as You say and to trust in You so that Your punishment is not necessary. In Jesus Name!

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Hebrews 10:35-36

When I read this passage, I can't help but picture Mike Iaconelli laying on the deck of his boat holding up a large fish at the Bassmaster Classic and screaming, "NEVER GIVE UP!!!!"

To me this is God's way of shouting that very sentiment. Even at our weakest moments, we can NEVER give up! We can hand over our struggles to God, but by continuing in prayer, HOPE, and having faith, we are NOT giving up!

The walls that God can breakdown never ceases to amaze me. I haven't given up! I have become weak enough to let go of struggles and let God take charge. Now I have prayers of Thanksgiving...Funny how that works!

I am thankful for the love and grace that God shines down when I feel like I don't deserve it. He answers prayers. He opens hearts. He reveals truths. He breaks down walls. He mends wounds. He destroys the enemy. And most of all...He Loves us UNCONDITIONALLY!

I am forever thankful...no matter what outcome God has for me in the immediate path because I know this is just a journey, an adventure, a maze, to reach HIS Kingdom, and I have HOPE in what He has waiting for me. You can too!

Father God, Thank You! Thank You for the blessings that You bestow upon us each day. Thank You for showing me once again that YOU ARE GOD and nothing is beyond Your love, grace, forgiveness, and understanding! I thank You for the doors that You have opened up and the opportunities that You have created. I thank You for the doors that You WILL open. I thank You for struggles in life that You allow us to endure so that we may draw nearer to You. Your mysterious ways are always glorious when they are revealed! I pray that we may all be thankful for all that You do, have done, and will do in our lives! In Jesus Name!

Equipped

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You are equipped! You are called! You are chosen to be a warrior for the Kingdom of God through the glory and goodness of God.

I have spent too much time pondering my shortcoming and focusing on what I lack in doing God’s work. The enemy is quick to jump in to disqualify me for God’s purpose. I can certainly live in the inadequacies of my human nature, or I can step into the divine nature of God and live out life according to His power and goodness. It took me a long time to realize this, and the same is true for you.

God is the one who qualifies us to do His work. We have no power in this beyond the free will to align with Jesus or align with the world.

You are equipped for a godly life because of who God is…because of His divine power. Our flesh is weak, our minds are feeble, our thoughts are not His thoughts, but He has taken all of that into account and provided all that we need to conquer this world because of our knowledge of Him.

You have been called! And because you have been called, you have been equipped. And because you have been equipped, you are a mighty warrior for God! And all you had to do was believe, trust, and obey because His divine power handles the rest.

Father God, teach us to trust in You in all things. Your power is what equips us for Your calling. Help us realize that and stand strong in You in all our ways. Thank You for Your glory and goodness! In Jesus Name!

Depth of Christ’s Love
.."And I pray that you, being rooted in and established in love, may have power, together with all saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3:17-19

I keep going back to this passage. It seems like everything I read lately points back to the love of Christ, to the point that I have to hang on to Proverbs 3:5 (trust in the Lord, not your own understanding.)

I cannot fully understand the depths of Christ's love for me. I have gone through my entire life knowing that Jesus loves me, but I don't know that I have ever really understood or comprehended what the full extent of that really is.

When you REALLY think about it, I encourage you to focus on what God sacrificed for you by allowing Christ to die on the cross. Not stopping there, focus also on His continued battles on this earth to save you from the devil even when you don't think you deserve it.

When I think about how hard it is to face what I deem to be unforgivable acts and the struggles I have with offering forgiveness, I look at Christ and His willingness to forgive me of greater sins. That's LOVE that cannot be understood through worldly ways. Remember, there is a major spiritual war going on, and God still thinks and proves that you are worth fighting for.

Father God, I pray for hope and love to be known by all. We all suffer and falter, but Your love is so deep that we will never understand it fully until we reach Your Kingdom. I pray that we all have that moment when the Holy Spirit comes on us and we get a glimpse of understanding of just how great Your Love is for us! In Jesus Name!

HOPE

God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
Hebrews 6:18-20

While peace has set in and God has lifted a major burden from my shoulders, I have not given up HOPE. Hope leads to faith.

God wants us to let go at times and let Him handle things. It can sometimes feel like we are giving up, when in reality, we are getting out of God's way to let Him work. This is where hope comes in.

I can hope that the person I’m praying for so intently has a softened heart. This hope is in God to work. I have faith in Him, and the hope that I have in Him is encouraging!

I hope he/she will listen, I hope he/she will hear God, I hope he/she will seek His counsel, I hope he/she will open up. My faith is in God, and the hope of these things encourages me!

So be encouraged with hope! Never lose it! With God, we always have HOPE!

Father God, we rest our hope in You. When we feel that there is nothing left for us to do, we will always have hope, and that is encouraging. Please teach us to always have hope that leads to faith. Please encourage us to always have hope in You. In Jesus Name!
