You might already share the love with The Collaboratory. They been making great things happen in Dayton for 14+ years. They are a resource. They usually stay in the background, but thousands have come through The Collaboratory’s doors bringing ideas, looking for know-how, finding help fleshing out a concept, making vital connections, or just reveling in the excitement of possibilities. Thousands more have been touched by projects that we initiated or incubated.
Their purpose is to connect people, resources and ideas—to unleash Dayton’s potential. It has always been free. They have never asked to be compensated. They have been a community resource like the library. And want to keep it that way. Your ideas are invited. Your participation is encouraged. The excitement is growing, and the result of our work is reaching more people.
Now they are asking you to express that love, to believe in the future.
To put it simply, They need financial support to continue to be able to invest in these community-driven projects. They have bootstrapped everything for all these years (Thank You Dayton!), but for these good works to be sustainable, they need additional funding. They want to be able to keep going and continue growing. They want to be able to say YES!

This sentiment is at the heart of a new socio-economic model.

In the early 1930s, the New York American and other newspapers owned by William Randolph Hearst published a literary page to which a large number of writers and artists contributed. Bertrand Russell was one of the regulars, contributing a total of 156 essays from 22 July 1931 to 2 May 1935. In one year alone (1933), he contributed fifty items, virtually one each week, that quickly made him a household name in the United States. Intended as they were for a wide newspaper audience, his highly popular essays made frequent reference to the events and problems of the day, the Great Depression, the rise of Na**sm and Stalinism, American Prohibition, the New Deal and many more.
