Gun violence continues to plague our community. This past month, three men lost their lives on the same day to gun violence. We must continue to pray and to work for peace in our community.

The following individuals died on July 24, 2026:

Theodore Montgomery, 42
Terrance Charles, 36
Patrick Dyer, 62

We will gather for the Community Homicide Prayer Vigil this Saturday, August 8, 2025 at noon at the Seed of Life Memorial, 530 E. Fifth Street (next to the Trolley Stop) at the southeast end of the Oregon District in Dayton, to pray for those who have died from homicide in the community over the past month and for the end to violence here and around the world. Parking is available at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 272 Bainbridge Street.

Tuesday marks seven years since the Oregon District Shooting, an event that claimed the lives of nine and injured over two dozen others.

Despite the sorrow, the community has grown together in the time since, through vigils, The Seed of Life Memorial, murals and more.

Our community has suffered more loss due to gun violence. We are called to pray for them, their loved ones and peace in the community.

We will gather for the Community Homicide Prayer Vigil this Saturday, June 13, 2025 at noon at the Seed of Life Memorial, located at 530 E. Fifth Street (next to the Trolley Stop) at the southeast end of the Oregon District in Dayton to pray for those who have died from homicide in the community over the past month and for the end to violence here and around the world. We have obtained permission from Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 272 Bainbridge Street, to use their parking lot for parking. It is around one long block from the location of the vigil.
