Rarely do we ever meet the people or the pets that we’ve helped. Usually, I am reluctant to get emotionally involved because I’m afraid I will care too much and then they will end up living in my basement and being on my AFLAC. 
But I knew this one was special!You see, one year ago today we granted funds for R***r to have TPLO surgery. His mom wanted us to meet her boy and to see how great he was doing. He’s 11 years old and is very active so not being able to hike and run because of the torn cruciate ligament was pretty devastating for all of them.
R***r was our 100th dog of 2025 and today, one year later we are approving funds for our 100th dog of 2026!
R***r and his sister Maya and mom Chrissie came out to my home so I could meet them all. We had a little photo session (by the way, they are the world’s most photogenic dogs ) and while R***r and Maya made themselves at home, Chrissie and I had a nice visit and she gave us a very generous donation as a thank you for helping R***r.
These two dogs are beautifully cared for and loved. And this is truly what it’s all about; to know we’ve not only helped the pet get back to living his best life, but also that the pet owner hasn’t forgotten the part we played in making that happen. Chrissy told me every time she sees R***r run she thinks of us and is reminded of our help. Before she left gave us a very generous donation as a thank you!
I adored them all and might move her and the dogs into my basement!

Scabby Boy is a rez dog who was rescued in 2022 and has since had a loving mom, a great home and has been living the good life.
That almost came to a screeching halt when he was shot by the BIA police. They were chasing a person, who ran through Scabby's yard and Scabby did what most dogs would do; he barked at the commotion as a warning to his mom. The police shot him, with the bullet injuring his right shoulder and left hind paw.
Sadly this poor pup had to have the leg amputated, clear up by the shoulder as the injury caused more damage than could be repaired. The great team at Animal Care Center sewed up the paw and did the surgery. Glad we could help to get Scabby Boy the necessary surgery. Hope he is doing well and adjusting. I also hope the BIA will do the right thing and pick up the tab for the remainder of the cost.

Zara is a beautiful girl who needed luxating patella repair surgery. At 6 months old she's ambitious and has a lot of energy. Plus she shares her home with 4 young cats who are likely the source of much of her activity. The great team at Vet-To-Go, Inc. got Zara back on the path to doing puppy things, pain free! Glad that we could help her mom and dad out, who are already great pet parents. Zara is spayed, vaxxed and has been given lots of love and care!

This senior Jack Russell/Chihuahua goes by Little Man, and once again we helped him and his momma out. Little Man had some bad teeth causing him pain so we made sure he was able to get the care he needed. The wonderful team at Moxey Schreiber Vet Hospital is so great about offering affordable dental for seniors and their pets, that we are always grateful that they keep the cost down so together we can make sure to get it covered. Little Man went home with pearly whites, a pain free ability to eat, and a new Inside Voice bandana!

Bear is too cute to only have two or three pictures put up! It looks like this young pup from OR gets to go everywhere and have a lot of adventures! His mom told us that one minute he was running through the field and the next minute he couldn't walk, and somehow he ended up with a broken elbow.
We helped out with the surgery to repair the fracture and Bear is now home and on the mend. I have a feeling that Bear is going to get to do what Bear wants...how could you say, "no" to those eyes?!?

We first met little Sebastian on July 21, when he was found injured, on the side of the road. This good human, who would then become his new mom, began caring for him but it was clear that he needed more that she could give. A visit to Trailhead Veterinary Services confirmed that Sebastian would need FHO surgery. It was scheduled for July 29th, but when the day came he was still to little for the procedure to be done so Dr. Norris recommended postponing it for about 30 days so this little nugget could gain some weight.
The day finally came when Sebastian made big boy status and Dr. Norris worked his magic, finally putting this little guy back together. He just discharged yesterday so I'm sure today he is feeling a bit rough. Thanks mom, for saving him! Glad to help and happy that he will now have a great life!

Sweet little Vinny has had a bit of a rough go. His senior owners had health issues and could no longer care for him. Their daughter tried to take Vinny but with two big Akitas, Vinny was not safe so a sweet lady stepped in to take on Vinny's care, knowing that he had a mouth full of rotten teeth and needed immediate dental. The rescue that she normally works with were tight on funds, so this is when we came onboard.
Vinny's savior has been a generous donor to our silent auction over the past few years, with her unique Rose of Jericho and air plants, and our friends at Peaks to Prairie Animal Care (who by the way also gave a very generous donation for vet care, to our recent fundraiser) got Vinny in stat! We chipped in with a grant and now this little guy is feeling like a new man! Vinny is 11 years young, so he has many good years ahead.
It's great when those who give to us get to be beneficiaries of ours as well!

It's back to the business of helping pets! Emily Babs is a pretty girl, who a couple of weeks ago got attacked by another cat, resulting in an unexpected vet visit when the wound abscessed. Her mom was struggling and could not afford to get wound care for this sweet girl. To help out we covered all but $10 of Emily's treatment and medications, to ward off what was likely to be an ugly infection. We hope that she is on the mend!

What a whirlwind weekend! Our deepest gratitude to The Parkman Bar and Grill for opening their doors and hosting our event, and to the wonderful people in this community who came out to support our mission.
Our hearts are full and our mission is stronger. Your generosity, kindness, and belief in what we do means that we can continue helping pets and the people who love them.
