Isaiah 117 House Montgomery Co OH Providing physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting placement ♥️🏠 Please support the Isaiah 117 House.

When children are removed from their homes out of the concern for their welfare, they are usually brought to the Department of Children's Services Offices to await placement with a foster family. This wait can be several hours to nearly a full day. These children often have nothing with them and are scared, lonely, hungry, and often in dirty clothing. Isaiah 117 wants to provide a comforting home

where these children instead can be brought to wait-a place that is safe with friendly and loving volunteers who provide them clean clothes, smiles, toys, and snuggly blankets. This space will allow children to receive the comfort and care they need while DCS staff are able to the necessary paperwork and identify a good foster placement. Support the Cause:
Isaiah 1:17 says:
"Defend the cause of the fatherless." We believe this is God's call for this ministry.

A story from an open home: “This is real.
This is raw.

On this dry erase board, a child drew “Mom” and “Dad” surrounded by hearts.

When many people think of removal day, they may see it as a rescue; a child is leaving an unsafe situation. And yes, safety matters. Protection matters. In many ways it is a rescue.

But what we have to remember is this:

To that child, they are leaving the only home they have ever known.
The only bed that they’ve slept in.
The only voices they’ve heard say goodnight.
The only version of “Mom” and “Dad” their heart understands.

Their parents may not have met the standards of safety and stability. But to that child, those are still their mom and dad.

Removal day is not a celebration.

It is confusing.
It is heartbreaking.
It is overwhelming.

Within our red doors, we sit in that space with them. We don’t rush their feelings. We don’t dismiss their love. We honor the fact that two things can be true at the same time: A child can need safety, and a child can still deeply love the people they were removed from.

This is why our work matters.

Because behind every case number is a child with a tender heart… still drawing their family in hearts.

And that is something we will always handle with care.”

A story from an open home ❤️

A sweet 5 year old girl arrived at the Isaiah 117 House carrying two oversized bunny stuffies named Bubblegum and Rainbow. In the middle of so much change, uncertainty, and transition, those bunnies stayed close by her side.

When she left for a kinship placement, the bunnies were accidentally left behind. But instead of simply mailing them to her, one of our staff members went above and beyond, giving Bubblegum and Rainbow one last adventure.

The bunnies went on many adventures around the house, their journey captured with a Polaroid. Along with the photos, our staff member also wrote a note to our girl, letting her know her bunnies missed her very much and couldn’t wait to see her again. It took some time for everything to come together, and by the time it shipped, it had been about a week. But as we know, God’s timing is perfect.

After traveling all the way to their new home through the mail, Bubblegum and Rainbow arrived and wouldn't you know... God scheduled their very special arrival on the day of our girl’s birthday!! Her sweet caregiver later called us to share that she was absolutely overjoyed.

Moments like these remind us that caring for children goes far beyond meeting physical needs. Sometimes it also looks like protecting the small, meaningful pieces of childhood that matter so deeply during seasons of transition and change. What a beautiful gift.

🏠 A story from an open home…

Seven. Yes, 7️⃣ siblings arrived at the Isaiah 117 House that afternoon, all carrying the weight of a day no child should ever have to face. What could have been a night filled with fear and separation became a moment of togetherness, because we had the space to welcome every single one of them under the same roof.

They rested, they exhaled, and they stayed side‑by‑side — the way siblings should. In the midst of uncertainty, they found a soft place to land and a chance to simply be together. This is why Isaiah 117 House exists: to meet children in their hardest moments with comfort, dignity, and love first.
