Five Rivers MetroParks is hosting a MoMBA trail day this weekend: 9-12 on Saturday, 15 August. Looks like a great opportunity to meet MoMBA’s new trail lead, Alicia, and help get the trails ready for the XC classic. We would like to invite you to join in the 2026 Wright Wride! This August 23rd the wride begins and ends at John Bryan State Park. Come wride through Green and Clark Counties. Enjoy beautiful flat to rolling countryside with routes of 25, 50, 75 and 100 miles. There will be SAG support as well as lite mechanical support at each rest stop. Enjoy lunch and several rest stops with plenty of fruit, drinks and snacks. If you have attended in the past, then you know that these wrides are well attended and well supported.

🚧 South River Walk Upgrade — Trail Closure Starting June 22 🚧

Big improvements are coming to the South River Walk — but it means a temporary detour for trail users.

What's closing: Only the gravel path between the Main Street Bridge and I-75, on the left bank behind the Downtown Dayton YMCA.

When: June 22, for approximately 100 days (estimated reopening late September/early October 2026)

Why: We're resurfacing this stretch and adding:
💡 New energy-efficient, dark-sky-compliant LED lighting
🪑 New benches
🛝 New swings
🧺 New picnic tables

The Great Miami River Recreational Trail is NOT affected and stays fully open — this closure is limited to the South River Walk gravel connector only. See the map for the closed segment and suggested alternate route.

We know this trail is a daily ritual for a lot of you, and a 100-day closure is no small ask. We appreciate your patience while our contractor, gets this work done safely and efficiently. The result will be a brighter, more comfortable, more welcoming River Walk for years to come.

Pavement party at Five Rivers MetroParks starting June 1!

What to expect: Multiple projects in eight different MetroParks are scheduled in June and July (provisional rain dates planned). Certain areas will be closed on weekdays, but open on weekends to help minimize disruption. Parks will remain open and accessible on weekends.

“Five Rivers MetroParks is committed to maintaining safe, accessible roads, lots and trails,” said Five Rivers MetroParks Construction Manager Johnathan Eubanks. “This work is supported by the levy passed by the public in 2024 and reflects MetroParks’ continuing commitment to deliver on important repairs that are of great importance to the public.”
