Just a quick stroll down the street from MVM is a place where "untapped talent" becomes Dayton’s next workforce.

MVM Communications Director Taylor recently visited the Dayton Equity Center in the Five Points neighborhood to see our meals in action. This team is dedicated to the "Three R’s"—re-entry, recovery, and resettlement.

Watching students share a meal before diving back into their forklift certification class was a beautiful reminder: a hot lunch is a small piece of the puzzle, but it’s a vital one.

Since we started partnering in 2022, we’ve shared nearly 7,000 meals together.

Partner Spotlight!

Students in our afterschool program are not merely tutored or taught, they’re also trained! Thanks to one of our dedicated partners, BBIT, 15 students completed their tech capstone, traveling to the Boonshoft Museum to discover practical applications in science, engineering, and so much more! Want more stories like this one? Join our newsletter by clicking here: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/0ymvlmm/equity

BBIT was born out of the ask of mothers in Cincinnati to provide interactive STEM experiences and mentorship for their children, as they continue to provide out-of-school STEM programming during the school year. Their vision, to see “a world of economic and social justice, where all people live with dignity and freedom ”aligns with our hopes for every student in our programming. As we look to a summer packed with activities to engage students' academic performance, and their personal interests, we are so grateful for the many partners like BBIT who make it possible!

Marc DeWitt

We join the many community members, institutions and neighbors in offering our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family, friends and loved ones after the passing of a community giant. Beyond his role as an Equity Center Board Member, Marc served across collegiate institutions and nonprofits, providing invaluable leadership and life lessons, as he mentored continuously. The indelible mark he left on our work and our shared community will not be forgotten, just as he leaves a void that is irreplaceable.

He was a trusted advocate, mentor, and champion for students and staff, community members and causes.

Rest in Power, Marc
