Varsity D Club members. I'll have more info for you in a couple weeks (due to my still battling hip problems!). As far as I know, the D Club board will attend the BB banquet at the end of their fabulous season and should've gone to the FB banquet last year. As soon as I find out the date for the Baseball cookout I'll let everyone know. It was too bad that no one knew about it last year due to the skimpy VD Newsletter being sent out after it had occurred.(but then that's par for the course!). Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year!!

Varsity D Club Members: Spring is finally here in Dayton. Spring sports will be starting at UD soon. Your Newsletter should be arriving soon. Hopefully it will be an informative one. Please remember that your dues/donations are NOT tax deductible anymore as the Club has not reapplied for its 501C-3 tax exempt status due to the current board's decision. I'll keep you informed on UD happenings as I learn them. GO FLYERS!!! Tom Ledinsky '68 - 3 time V/D Club Pres.

Sorry I have not posted lately, but I've had serious an ongoing hip problem since last April. It's late but I hope everyone had a great Christmas and will have a very Happy New Year. Last Sept. The Varsity D Club hosted a 50 Year Reunion of football players from back then. There was a tailgate party on the upper back deck at Timothy's on Friday night. On Satutday morning the Club hosted a tailgate party and handed out caps to all the former players. Everyone received tickets to the football game and were introduced to the crowd at halftime as their playing- days pictures were shown on the scoreboard. The Reunion ended with a dinner at Franco's Italian Ristorante down by the Oregon District. '69 grad Jim Place (def. end) was instrumental in organizing the Reunion with the Varsity D Club and UD's Athletic Department. From what I heard, everyone had a great time! I was unable to attend as I was in the hospital for 2 months at that time. At this website you will receive the real and honest stories about your Vardity D Club. Tom "Lead-O" Ledinsky ('68 UD grad and former 40 year board member and 3 time President of the Varsity D Club).

To ALL D-Club members: Please keep in mind that your dues and extra monetary donations are NO LONGER TAX DEDUCTIBLE! The current board under Ron Flore refused to allow Lee Falke (a '65 D-Club member and founding father) to "reinstate" the Club's original 501C3 tax exempt number. Lee, a local lawyer and head district attorney, even offered to do the required paperwork for free! This refusal by the board means that your dues/donations are "no longer tax deductible" - so be careful when doing your 2016 taxes! Tom Ledinsky '68 - retired 40 year D-Club board member and 3-time president of your Varsity D Club

To all Football Alumni,
This coming Saturday, Sept. 30th, the Varsity D Club is sponsoring a "FREE" tailgate party before the UD vs. San Diego football game. The festivities start at 10:30 AM and the tailgate will be inside the basketball arena's west side area. See you there!

To all Varsity D Club Members, Just a reminder that your 2016 & 2017 dues & extra $ donations are NO LONGER TAX DEDUCTIBLE!!! This came about because UD's Athletic Dept. took away the D Club's use of ther Tax ID number and the fact that current board pres. Ron Flore and the board refused to allow Lee Falke (a '65 UD alum and one of the Founding Fathers of the D Club!) to reacquire the D Club's original 501(c)3 tax number (free of charge!). This year's 'Varsity D Newsletter conveniently failed to notify the members that their dues & extra $ donations are NO LONGER TAX DEDUCTIBLE! Sincerely, Tom "Lead-O" Ledinsky '68 (former 40 year Board of Director & 3-time Pres. of the Varsity D Club).

ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT

To all Varsity D Club members:
As of 2015 your VDC dues and/or extra monetary donations are no longer "tax deductible"! Here's how this happened:
(1) In 2014 VDC board members Ron Flore, Art Camacho, and Steve Siewe had several meetings with Mike Kelly (asst. AD at UD) re. turning over the Club to UD's Athletic Dept.;
(2) In early 2015 the full board of directors decided that the VDC would remain an independent "social" club and said no to UD;
(3) In the spring of 2015 UD's Athletic Dept.disallowed the VDC's use of their 501c3 tax ID number;
(4) In the summer of 2015 I brought Lee Falke, a local prominent attorney and former VDC board member, to a board meeting and he told the board that his firm would do the work necessary for the VDC to reacquire its former 501c3 tax ID number "free of charge!" as a favor to the Club;
(5) After tabling this issue for several meetings, the issue was brought up at an early fall 2015 meeting where pres. Flore and Camacho led a motion for the Club NOT to take up Mr Falke's offer to reacquire the Club's original 501c3 tax ID number which passed with only myself and treasurer Dan Andrick dissenting.
Therefore, the VDC is no longer a "tax exempt" organization as of 2015 and the future. I wanted to tell you this now as many of you are getting ready to file your 2015 income tax forms.
I have also resigned from the board of directors over this matter retroactive to Dec. 31, 2015 after serving on the board for approx. 40 years. Sincerely,
Tom "Lead-O" Ledinsky
