Miami Valley Chapter Ohara Ikebana

Miami Valley Chapter Ohara Ikebana A regional chapter of the Ohara School of Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging). Members meet regularly to learn how to arrange flowers in the Ohara style.

We are members of the Ohara School of Ikebana. We meet at Concord United Methodist Church, 1123 S Main St, Edgewood, OH from March-November with a holiday luncheon in Dec. A morning lesson led by a club member who is at an instructor level or above is followed by a brown bag lunch meeting and an afternoon lesson. The sessions are open to everyone interested in learning Ikebana or furthering their knowledge. Lessons are $5.00 and annual club membership is $15.00

We are thrilled to welcome Kamo-sensei, a Master from the Ohara School of Ikebana in Japan, for a very special workshop in Dayton on Monday, August 11 at 10 AM.

This is a rare opportunity to study with a visiting Sensei from Japan and deepen your Ikebana practice.

The Ohara School of Ikebana is celebrating its 130th anniversary with a Photo Contest, and it’s open to all students—regardless of experience level.

🌸 The Ohara School of Ikebana is celebrating its 130th anniversary with a Photo Contest—announced on the back cover of the March 2025 Soka magazine!

The theme is “Celebration Flowers” (お祝いの花), and it’s open to all students, regardless of experience level. Whether you’ve just begun or are well on your way toward certification, this is a beautiful chance to share your work!

Join us on Monday, September 16, from 10 AM to 3:30 PM for a special one-day workshop with 1st Term Master Isa Ranganathan.

The day will start with a lesson on the One Row Form (Narabu-katachi), followed by lunch, followed by a lesson on Free Expression (Jiyu Hyogen).

The $100 fee covers your floral materials and lunch. Bring a bucket so you can bring home your flowers. You'll need to bring you're own containers, kenzans, and clippers. If you don't have appropriate containers and kenzans, please note that on your registration form, and we can provide you with some to borrow during the lesson.

The event will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 4865 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, Ohio.

Exciting news! My Ikebana Sensei, Kamo-Sensei, is visiting from Japan and will be giving a live Ohara Ikebana demonstration in Columbus, Ohio.
