Probably not a good idea to burn this weekend...

Looking Ahead: wildfire danger is expected to increase across East & Central Texas as we approach the weekend.🔥

Gusty winds behind a cold front could raise the potential for wildfires.

Now is the time to make a plan and be prepared to follow directions from local officials.

🔥 NAVARRO COUNTY BURN BAN LIFTED 🔥

10:00 AM | October 9, 2026 — The Navarro County Commissioners Court has officially lifted the countywide Burn Ban, effective at 10:00 AM today.

Recent rainfall has improved conditions across much of Navarro County; however, we ask all residents to continue using caution with any outdoor burning. Fire conditions can change quickly, especially with dry vegetation, wind, and lower humidity.

If you plan to burn outdoors, please:

• Follow all Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Outdoor Burning Rules and Regulations
• Check weather conditions before beginning any burn
• Avoid burning on windy days
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep water and fire-suppression equipment readily available
• Make sure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area

The lifting of the Burn Ban does not remove the responsibility to conduct outdoor burning safely and in accordance with applicable state and local regulations.

Thank you for helping us keep Navarro County safe.

A quarter of a century has passed since September 11, 2001, when the peace of our Nation was shattered by terrorists.

Today, we remember the 2,977 precious lives taken from us, honor the heroes who answered the call, & keep their families in the heart of our Nation.

Above all, we must ensure the memory of 9/11 never fades, but is carried from one generation of Americans to the next.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

BURN BAN NOTICE

I’m going to share this again because it is important: not knowing about a burn ban is not an excuse.

The current dry conditions, combined with the lack of any significant rainfall in more than 40 days, create an extremely high risk of fire spreading and causing damage to neighboring property.

**During an active burn ban, you cannot have anything burning on the ground. If you have household trash to burn use a barrel with a mesh cover.**

If you see smoke or a fire that appears to be unattended or out of control, call 911 immediately.

Please take these conditions seriously. One careless fire can result in significant property damage and put lives at risk.

We did a little bit of pumper training last night after our meeting. Kase joined us for training as well. He said " I know how to turn the siren on". Can't ever have too much training.
